Hi everyone been on here for a while now so thought it was about time to get a project thread started, i belive it was owned by a member on here Aamir iirc (not sure if he is still a member) then my mate bought it off him where it was left sitting on his aunties drive for a year and hadnt been touched before i decided to save it:p. I bought the old girl in september few months short of my birthday for £90 which was a result and also ment i had enough time to get everything done. There was a hole in the boot floor and the arches wernt terrible but needed work and i wanted to do a few bits to make it my own.

After the boot was welded and the arches were sorted i orderd a few bits just to tidy it up abit, de-wiperd the boot and started to rub it down.

Anyway after deciding i wanted to do the car black i wanted the wheels done aswell (didnt get any pics of this) so took them off and cleaned them up and painted them and they came out looking like this:) (there filthy dirty in the pictures as they havent been cleaned since and iv just taken themlol)

Not alot happend for a while before and while the snow was here but yesterday i got a phone call from my painter saying he was ready for it to come in so that gave me yesterday to do the last few bits taking wipers and lights off ect.

And thats where it stands, the cars getting collected about half 5 this evening and when i get it back iv got a few bits to put on and then il get some pics up;) let me know what you think.
Repaint it in the original colour imo! No problems with interior etc not matching (assuming you're not paying out thousands for a good inside and out job) and that colour looks awesome.
I do like the original colour but to get it resprayed in the original colour is going to cost more and im on a tight budget as im not working atm and the bits that you can see inside are getting done (below the windows in the door shuts, boot bonet etc.)
must be cheaper to get just the outside done in original colour than have a spot on job of black done... black shows up imperfections far worse.
Im paying £200 for the job as its through a friend of a friend of my grandads whos a car painter for a living and said the job would normally cost about 6 7 hundred so i cant moan and its my first car not a show car

Looks like a good start, keep it the same colour!
Steal the rims from the Polo and fit them to the Nova.

Looks pretty smart mate I would have stuck with the o.e colour but of money is tight then far enough, it will good once its all painted up

I used to ave a nova the same colour years ago, love it mate.

Yea i did lol i bought it off a close mate he gave like 650 for it i think when he got it but it didnt have any rust or anything then
shame about getting it done black, lagoon blue is very cool.
but i understand where your coming from about getting a quick paint job which is good and cheap

Bit more good news not really to do with the car, well not yet but iv just been given a job labouring in reading starting next wednesday:d. Looking forwad to getting out the house abit more more than anything lol and its also couple houndred a week in the nova foundlol
Is the Ashley exhaust any good? Is it just the backbox and does it sound loud? Decent car for the price and is going to look good black.
Its just the backbox mate and it does sound nice its no stupidly loud but its nice and deep hopefully when i sort my de cat out should be hearing a few pops and bangs aswell:d

really do like the opriginal colour but like said its your car fella
I also like the standard colour but its had repairs been smoothed and the dinks and scratches you expect on a 19 year old car so something needed doing and i chose to paint it black but as said before it may be returned to its original colour one day depending on what route the car goes down as i plan on keeping it for a while:thumb:
Small update. Got the car back today quite pleased with the job few little bits need sorting but for the money i paid for it i cant really moan, did start to put the car back together then the heavens decided to open so not much got done in the end. Hopefully tomorow i can get it finished and get some pictures up as i didnt get a chance to get any today:/
Pics as promised still not got the bumpers or skirts on yet as i run out of time today but should all get finished tomorow and give it a polish

Looks nice! Get it back together and it will look stunning.
My grandad gave the bonnet a quick polish this morning and its very shiney lol cant wait to get it all put back together and polished:d
thats 100x better than i though it would of been. actally prefer the black.

I'd do the wheels silver.
Prefered the blue, but it looks good both ways.
Small update but i thought id put something on here havent in a while, not really had much time to do things with it now im working so between catching up with sleep i fitted my hid's which im quiet happy with suggested by pie:thumb: and fitted my skirts and front mudflaps.
Also took all the door cards and out ready for when i get my gsi interior next week and also gsi bumpers so will be like gsi rep, few other things on my list for it when i get paid.

Yea happy with it its getting there slowly mate and always been a big fan of gsi's intentions wasnt to make it look like on but now thats the way things are going lol

Long overdue i know but there hasn’t been too much worth updating.
The bumper i got off ebay i didnt get a refund for in the end ebay sided with him due to it saying that it had been damaged repaired so they couldnt refund me for it still being damaged:mad:.
So today we went and picked up a rear gsi bumper and started the repair work on the front one.

It is finished now just forgot to get a pic of it.
Iv also got my gsi dash in now and all the black trim, carpets and painted my headlining which i didnt get any pics of at the time but will put some up if i get a chance to take some tomorow.
I put some clear sidelights back in so my hid’s dont look so blue and a few other bits like that so its finally coming together now just need some seats and front doorcards.

Sorry about the rubbish pictures stupid blackberry il try get some better ones with a digital camera tomorow.
Plan for the next couple of weeks is to get under the bonnet finished painting cleaning etc getting the wheels off and cleaning up all the suspension and brake components and generally tidying up but will try and get an update in tomorow.

come out this morning and some ******* has been and tried to pull my spoiler off which has bent it all out of shape so we went down to my grandads mates yard where theres a white mk1 thats been siting for years so i nicked the spoiler off that and got that in paint ready to go on with the bumpers.
got the front bumper repairs finished today so just need to prep for paint tomorow, went abit OCD on the back bumper been rubbing it down most of the day fingers are well sore:( but thats nearly ready for paint aswell now so hopefully another update tomorow but with pictures

Another small update
got my rear door cards in today so thats everything in the car put back together just need seats.
Back bumpers FINALLY finished worked it out id been rubbing it down all together about 10 hours:tard: :eek: :confused: it didnt even take that long to rub my car down!
Front bumpers had its first coat which showed the few inperfections that id missed so sorted them out just off to halfrauds in the morning for some high build and some paint:d
hopefully an update tomorow with lots of pics as i now have a digital camera:thumb:

the last two pictures are of where the damage was dont think its to far off the shape considering how bad it was so im happy with it just need to get the struts fixed in properly and get some paint on it which again should get done tomorow if i get a chance.

Got my bumper fitted but bent my spoiler at the same time so thats had to come back off now but got couple snaps with the back end nearly all together

cheers yea its getting there slowly money and time limits me really as the cars on next doors drive which just so happens to be my nan and grandads lol but all the tools and stuff are round there so only get a couple hours work done a day but yea its getting there lol

tiny update
not much but i thought it keep this up to date.
went and colleceted the back part of a gsi rear bench day before yesterday needs a clean but no marks tears/wears ect and got it free so cant complain.
Also just bought these, dunno why she still hasnt taken them off but payments been sent and couriers on their way so should be here sometime this week.

so got some nice front seats on the way aswell £90 including couriers charge so cant complain about that eitha:)
just need to work out how im going to mount my harnesses aswell i dont want to not use a back seat because iv got a fair amount of moneys worth of system going in the back and dont really want that to be on display for obviouse reasons.
was thinking as iv already got it just to use the rear part of the bench so it encloses the boot and everything can be hidden away then just paint the floor where the bottom bit of the seat would be and mount the harnesses where they normally go or to use the bottom bit aswell?

Recaros are in now just need a good wash and abit of repairing but they will do for now and heres a couple shots of the black headlining and the gsi dash note the headlining looks patchy in the photos but its just the way the picture is its alrite when looking at it

other than that not much has happend should hopefully get my scorpion system deliverd tomorow been waiting a couple of days so should be here just need to cut the main silencer out and decide weather to keep the cat or not.
over the next couple of days im going to go through the car do the little bits that need finishing and im getting some 2ltr brakes and a gsi cam off a mate so they will need to be fitted then i think its time to hit the scrap yard see if i can find any goodies:d

They have been fitted to loads over the years, they are early ones tho going by the head rests,

not much been happening got my old system off but the new one didnt come with a downpipe so iv just bought an ashley 4 branch which should be coming soon so i can get that on and out the way also went down the scrappy and got a corsa b airbox so i can ditch the panel filter but next week should bring some updates!

And thats one side done took ages because the bolts in the caliper didnt want to come out and then the dust guard screws the same but i had a driving lesson at 3 so had to stop.
finished painting my engine bay after my lesson but didnt get any pictures.
tomorow should see the other side done and the cam in then iv got to paint the floor in the back of the car so should be a decent update tomorow

just gave it a general hoover and tidy up, still awaiting my manifold so the next update should see the system on and a few other odds and sods not much left to do now but the last bits are the most expensive so i better get saving lol

lol i got it off a smoothie bottle Christmas time all the innocent smoothie bottles had these hats on all different ones so we went in and a few might have accidently fell in my pocket:d
