ok, went to regal autosport couple of days ago. asked about a 2.0L 16v turbo conversion. chris (manager) said that it would cost me ?5500 for the engine, turbo, dump valve, intercoller, cams, etc plus strippin out engine and welding the frame so it can cope with the torque and spraying it what eva colour i wanted. does that seem like a good deal to you lot?
also, vectra v6 brakes for ?240, vented discs.
let me know if you think i'm about to get ripped off if i do it.
fergie.

engine = rip off.

brakes slightly less ofo a rip off but still a rip off.

v tuning will do you a set of v6 for about 200 i think

fergie when i saw you at the cruise have you just started driving? if you have it will be very hard to get insured! also going from a 1.2 to a turbo will be dodgy! most people work there way up ie i had a 1.2 the a 1.3 then a 1.6gte then a 16v and now im going on to the turbo, its just such a big step you realy need abit of experiance as they are very fast cars!
if you want ill take you out in my turbo as it should be complete at the end of this month depending on pvd
oh and as for that engine price! got my c20let for ?1250 inc the f28!

i'll take you up on that offer dan!!!
well i would actually be goin from a 1.0L to a 2.0L 16v turbo knockin out 240 bhp with phase 1 round da corner with 262 bhp. so tempting but like you say i might work my way up, maybe a 1.6GSi or a GTE engine!!!
what do you get with the c20let for ?1250? intercoller, induction kit? do they weld the car frame so it can cope wiv da torque, etc.
dont wanna go ahead with it and then need to buy loads more and spend more on labour.
fergie.

work your way up like with a 1600 or something like a good lad!
not being funny or smart but it is a bit much from a 1L :o

fergie if you are going to do it you have to be commited! i wanted to do mine right so ie i baught the engine with f28 std intercooler(may aswell throw it away!) and loom etc since ive totaly re-built it, as in every thing! id say the bill stands at around ?4000 inc buying the engine i still need another ?800 for the v max evo 6kit ive been told the highest a evo6 kit has ever produced was 370bhp but time will tell once every body buys the kits so ill wait abit!

sounds like the makings of something excellent Dan

to be honest brian with the price of phase kits and or v max kits i think its gunna be pritty common this year for most turbo novas to be knocking 300bhp or more, obviously you could just buy a turbo for ?1300ish and throw it in job done etc but i cant do that, i like to know its sound etc

WTF ?5500 for the engine?

my mate bought a cally turbo with ?80 worth of workdone on the engine for ?900!!!!

300BHP in a Nova...LMFAO. These cars just wern't built for that sort of power. I'd be a bit aprehensive. I've been in Breenys turbo nd that has around 200BHP and it was very impressive. add another 100BHP onto that and it must be very difficult to get any traction, even with a diff :?

Good luck to you though Dan, I'm sure it'll be a beast down the 1/4mile :)

theres a phase 4 nova on mig pushing out 370bhp!

dan16v
08-06-03, 01:12 PM
micky i think rob is going on to phase 5 iihr which is about 400 something bhp! with this sort of bhp things dont come cheap! thats why im saying why slap an engine in when you can do it properly ie forged pistons rod bolts etc etc so when you want to upgrade power you dont need to faf about pulling the engine apart again!. face it if any one had a turbo nova and realised they can have say phase 3 for about ?500 not including fmic theyd buy it how could you resist around 300bhp for so little money?

fergie dont bother a GTE or GSI is probably too fast for most new drivers in reality i.e. those with a lead foot

RobHardyUK
08-06-03, 05:22 PM
id say at the most go for the GSI, bein nu got a 1.0 now. wouldnt doa 2.0 yet!

stickj to a 1.4

u wont insure anything much more i dont think

SRimon

probo doesn't handle at all but once u get traction  it will be immense!

bobin
11-06-03, 04:09 PM
can do it properly ie forged pistons

The C20LET should come standard with forged pistons

dan16v
11-06-03, 10:09 PM
it does but there not as low compresion as the after market ones and they dont last long once you start winding up the boost!

Aye i spouses it dpends what your aiming for

Ste_Nova
12-06-03, 09:16 AM
yeh but it's not all power......

you need a minted fully welded shell

massive brakes

all the boost control stuff (apexi etc)

massive zorst

??? suspension not ur spax/koni shite

fully rose jointed

then you are somewhere near handleing 300bhp+

dan16v
12-06-03, 05:47 PM
yup dont think you can just buy an engine and throw it in! it cost mega money you should look at spending ie round ?500 on suspension loads on getting a decent welder to seam weld the chassis, mod your tca etc etc

Breeny

Ive been told that 250 hp is a maximum if you still want to be able to drive the car, so thats what I'm gonna be sticking to. You need to get the traction sorted out with 150 hp engine let alone a 250hp one.

And I wouldnt step up from a 1.0 to a turbo... I'm surprised I havn't killed myself yet! :o

dan16v

so what does the let go like cant wait till mynes done! im gunna stick to the evo 5kit just a tad over 300bhp should be ok with lsd etc spect it will spin through 3rd tho!
