basicly its a 1.4SR with kent fast street cam, 1.6 head, burns through fuel dont think cam has been set up niether, when you come to a stop at some lights the revs die off to about 500 and u have to coax the engine back up to idle which is about 1400 atm and then it will sit there until you wanna pull off then the revs die off abit. oooh and the emissions smell rich any advice on what i can do or a garage that might be able to set it up, i live near cannock in west midlands, cheers x

1600 head, not sure if it works well on a 1.4, guessing that it might actually lower the compression ratio?

Is it timed up correctly? Advance and retard working correctly?

Has the carb been set up for a 1.6 or have you just cobbled a load of parts together and hoped it worked?

Is the engine worn or rebuilt?

Need a bit more info

i had the same set up as that. and my car was doing that. mine needed a inlet manifold. the 1.4 and 1.6 ports ent the same. so i would take it off and have a look.

I would do as above and find a 1.2 or 1.3 item!

would it be better to find a 1.3sr head then a 1.3 and then worst head is a 1.2? and would they have to be off a carb'd engine? or is SPI ok?

the 13sr is a 1300 with a sticker job, the engines are identical, and the 1200 head is as close to identical to the 1300 as i've ever seen too....

what inlet manifold are you using?? cos it will never match a 1.6mpi head in a million years, and a 1.6 spi head has horrible square ports too....

steer clear of spi 1.2, 1.4 stuff, it won't be an improvement.

Yeah just get a carbed 1.2 head, fairly common still and cheap

Take the manifold off and take a picture of the runner shape so we can identify which head you need :thumb:
