Not officially, as surely they would all have been sold through Vauxhall dealers in the UK. I know there were Opel dealerships over here but I thought they dealt with stuff like Mantas, Monzas etc.

I can imagine Corsa A's making their way across the border in NI though, and other RHD A's being imported perhaps.

Plenty have been rebadged by bored Vauxhall owners too lol

[edit] Have a look here (http://www.vboa.org.uk/toplevel.php?p=h8), gives info about the UK history of Opel

I am thinking of maybe using something off a corsa for my race series ,dont want to run into any problems with eligibility as nova didnt use it
If i can prove it was a corsa i shouldnt have any issues

I cant see you being able to argue that, most scrutineers are pretty hot on the class structure and tricks to gain an advantage. If it came from a a Corsa C (I assume thats where your getting your 1.8 from), then it would be unlikely to allowed in a Corsa A as technically it is a different model.

There is still a few opels flying about in here in N.I. as they are imported from the south. I found in the past that the Opel versions were always better finished off with a few extras. I have recently spotted a Corsa VXR badged as a CPC:thumb:

The head is not the real issue as heads are free as long as its not a bespoke special its the block thats the issue ,i spoke to the tech regs guy and he said as long as it was a smallblock as in oil filter at the front then i will be ok ,but before i jump in i want to see if i could argue my case if a problem did arise:thumb:

But I assume you are trying to argue that as a Corsa C comes fitted with a 1.8, therefore a Corsa A could have a 1.8 retrofitted and still be classed as having a capacity fitted by the manufacturer?

MY OLD CAR!!! how on earth did you find that add?
I sold it to a very good friend, who still has it and keeps it in a carcoon. It was supplied by an opel dealer in Essex. I will find out the name.

Up until 1984 Vauxhall and Opel dealers were able to compete against one another. I believe that 1985 spelt the beginning of the joint venture of only supplying one brand in the UK. DTV and Opel were very competitive, remember the ascona and manta 400s against the chevette hs and hsr.

Is that soundproofing on the bonnet? Not seen it on a car that early before and its usually one piece.

The car belonged to an old fella originaly, he cut the felt and glued it to the underside of the bonnet himself. It was a neat idea for back in the day. as with all early novas there was no bulkhead sound deadening, so he fitted some to it also, it was probably too noisy for him.
