Hi all i thought i would show a few build pics from my nova its still in progress but getting there bit by bit, next step is dry sump and some kind of fire wall round the internal tank.
This is a picture from 2008 when it was on carbs run a 13 flat
http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu132/sic20xe/Nova%20engine/n637091973_324752_563.jpg
On this weekend there was an issue with the linkage and instead of 3rd i found 1st and the engine found 12k and the clutch cover didnt wanna stay in one bit!!

After this I went shopping in a big way to make an indestructable engine!
Jenveys- £300 from ebay a damn bargain! linkcage and trumpets were bought from emerald

i favoured this clutch cause it can handle higher rpm

Steel crank with the timing disc mounts machined on
http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu132/sic20xe/Nova%20engine/DSC00274.jpg
This is all up and running now but like most still not happy with it but its getting there.
Ive got the dry sump and will be putting that on very soon, then deciding on whether to have 2mm oversized valves or just go for different cams possibly will get round to some cosmetic works
There is a vid on you tube that was taken in 2009:

Think it started life as a Farndon
Yrah was at PV and it did make it into the shoot out but was up against some monster cars like that twin engined mini!

Right... been a while! update time:
Been a busy time in the sh*tter last year... winning the A class at The fast show and a poor 2nd at USC which would have been the third year running if i had won it but hey ho thats what you get for not prepping properly! I took it to brands hatch and had a wicked time pooping over some nice cars until the clutch slipped so I pulled in to the pits and lone behold there was oil streaming out from the bell housing! Nice one! In all honesty it was the perfect excuse for a strip down and a peek to see how she was internally. Not bad as it happens but still the need for more power soon took over as it does....sooooo new pistons (slipper 2 rings) are on order with some funky length con rods and now the engine is out I can tidy the bay up and cut the inner wing for the dry sump pump :) Also shopping for some new cams as these ones make good power and have served well but i want LAREY lol
Also took the heater matrix and fan out and the bit that seperated the bay from the fan for some space for the air filter !
Bought my self a nice race technology Dash2 with a serial link cable to go straight on the Emerald ecu
Pictures to follow soon!

With the original dash gone i can start to fit new dash and loom! Also didnt think before i did this that the fuse box is mounted on the dash, so now i will have to make some kind of mount to hold it..... A bracket is also needed for the headlight switch as i still need it for the MOT :)

Mate i still have a cheeky **** over that clutch but will be sticking to the 7.25" ... just with new plates that dont have oil on them! I was going to go for a SCCR set but the ratios are terrible for straight lining, I think i would end up in 5th going over the finish line!
The rods should help get the zing im after ;) a lower centrefugal mass with a smaller clutch would be an added bonus but the pockets are looking empty at the moment! I might be rebuilding the old engine with my old rods pistons and cams though if you know of anyone interested it would be good for 200 at the flywheel i reckon :)

New shiny bits turned up today! Got some cosworth slipper pistons (2ring) and some PEC rods which i believe are 4mm longer than standard....
Thought id do a weigh in against the old setup... the old rod and piston together was 1.178kg and the new rod and piston come to 1.00kg bang on!
700g saved off of the reciprocating mass + less friction due to the new pistons which has one less ring and alot less skirt + the reduction in angularity of the con rod = more power and a revvier engine!
Will start getting another block bored and then get some pics of the build up :D

Looking really good.
The sump pan is nicer than the SBD item by the looks of it as it can bolt to the lower half of the gearbox. Having seen a expensive gearbox fall to pieces ( Non Vaux ) as it wasn't bolted top and bottom its good to see QED/ Titan have thought ahead
