A while back there was a F20 gearbox that was straight cut sequential on ebay i think it was about £3300. Does anyone know or know of the bloke?

Don't they usually go for 1500?

I did sell a sequential gearbox, but it wasn't an F20.

You can't buy a sequential gear arrangement which will fit a standard Vauxhall casing.

The one I sold was a Quaife 032G, which is a universal front wheel drive sequential gearbox.

You have to fabricate your own driveshafts and engine mounts to suit, and sort out the bellhousing.

The one I had came out of a Corsa B rally car, and had the mountings and driveshafts with it, so was a long way towards ready to bolt into a Nova.

The complete gearbox is about £12k (new) from Quaife, so the price I sold it for was a bargain.....it was a fair bit more than £3,300 I seem to recall.

The gearbox is owned by someone from PNG, although there hasn't been a progress update on that car for a good while now.

Thats exactly the box i am going on about, it had the bellhousing just no drive shafts.

Didnt realise the mounts had to be fabricates tbh, at the time i knew the box was a good price but its was a few nuggets more than i had at the time! I dont fancy spending 12k on a box though it would be triple than what the car is worth.

Was your one a dog engagement?

Hopefully that person isnt using it and might be willing to part with it, if not im just going to use a straight cut kit. Wanna get as many ponies to the wheels as possible

I sold it complete with the driveshafts and the mounts (for a Corsa B). It also had the cable change gear lever with it.

I reckon it weighed 20kg more than an F20 gearbox, and the casing is considerably bulkier, it would definitely have needed chassis modifications to get it into a Nova.

Depends what you're using it for, and how much money you can afford to burn...........I ran a sequential gearbox in my Escort Cosworth race car, and it was lovely to use, but the expense was difficult to justify and they tend to weigh a lot more than a conventional 'H' pattern 'box.

There are also times when they are a pain, and potentially slower to use e.g. when you have to get down through the gears for a tight turn, you've got to go 5th-4th-3rd-2nd, rather than straight from 5th to 2nd on a normal 'box.

A friend of mine has owned a string of GPA Escorts, 6R4's, WRC cars and he reckons he can change gears as quickly with a dog 'box as he can on a sequential.

Your nackerd if you happen to stall in gear with a sequential box too. Alot of money for a box from qauife too i really am not keen on there stuff any more. quality seems to have gone down a great deal over the past couple of years.
