i like it and to a collector i think is worth it,look at series one rs turbos in that condition and mileage you could ask £20k so £10k seems a steal i think though not for me

Novasport
04-01-11, 11:35 PM
Its always been registered and I have seen it rapidly increase in asking price over the last year. It started out as a private sale in the Northwest area at about £5k, then it moved to a garage up there, then to a garage in Notts and now down south and the price has increased massively. Its a standard 8v engine.

Spudly
04-01-11, 11:37 PM
I thought the last few times it had been on the bay/pistonheads, it was always listed as never having been road registered?

claire6069
04-01-11, 11:39 PM
it says in the ad on ebay that its been in a museum, wonder why its no longer there??

Spudly
04-01-11, 11:43 PM
Clearly it has been registered all along....

Date of First Registration 18 02 1988

Date of Liability 01 07 1989

Omg its never been taxed nor sorn'd

Vehicle Status Unlicenced

5 years ago I had a black 16v GTE Astra with the same Irmscher Sprint bodykit on it (dealer option fitted). It had only done 40k, and had sat in a barn for many years, although it was still in great condition.

No-one wanted to buy it, so I broke it for spares........

Gutted now, but I can't see anyone paying £10k for this one.

It looks pish........i wouldn't give it room on my drive, but the interior is rather nice and looks very comfy...:)

I'd pay £10k (if I had that amount of cash) for a 57mile Nova GTE, but not that astra

More chance of getting that cash for a standard gte imo

It was last sold in June 2010 with 54miles on the clock.

For info.
‘Quicksilver’ A design exercise based on an Astra GTE

‘Quicksilver’, A bold new concept in car body colour design - based on the Vauxhall Astra GTE. Metallic paint which blends from white silver in the front to black at the rear shows off the sleek, good looks of this model. The paintwork was completed by Inmont (part of the BASF group) in their base coat clear system called ‘Diamont’. Cars painted this way have a coat of clear lacquer applied on top of the base coat metallic paint to produce a deep, lustrous and hardwearing finish.

The same dramatic colour scheme is used in the interior where luxurious Connolly leather is used to trim the seats, door panels and headlining.

The striking effect of this concept is enhanced by the use of modified Irmscher body panels. These panels are used to replace the front and rear bumpers, the rear quarters and front wings.

Special wheels from CD Design colour-keyed to the exciting colour concept and shod with Pirelli P600 tyres complete the overall effect.

Commissioned by the Vauxhall plant at Ellesmere Port in Cheshire, ‘Quicksilver’ celebrated the silver anniversary of the plant, which was reached in 1987.

The car was actually built in the Ellesmere Port service department. It made its first appearance at the 1987 Motor Show and then it appeared at many other Vauxhall dealer events.

It was eventually sold by Vauxhall and is quite a remarkable car as it has never been MOT’d or Taxed

I agree, it's just the advertising/publicity blurb for it.

IMO this has a place in the Vauxhall Heritage Centre. It'll never be a day to day car.

I think it should be in the recycling centre personally.
Crap looks, crap colour and a totally gutless fartypop engine make for a truly shocking bag of sh1t.
Gte champion 16v was a much better car.

I also saw this at Billing a few years ago and I do really like it just for its quirkyness but I also agree it should be in the hertaige centre as its a bit of vauxhall history:d

claire6069
05-01-11, 08:51 PM
wonder why it keeps getting sold for more and more?? i think he heritage centre should have it for 2 reasons - 1) its a rare limited edition model and 2) so no one has to see its yukky paint job in real life out on the road lol

One of the Courtenay Nova's used to have a set fitted, I think it may have been A16VTB. I think the same set ended up on Jason Hudson's silver L reg GSi. Novacabrio would prob tell you better and more than likely will have some pics of Jasons car.

Wouldve been a very late E as iirc XE's were first introduced in '88 were they not?

Hmmm, wiki says '87 for the 20XE, and '88 for the C20XE!

Silver leather is gash. Always. Also have the interior handles etc been sprayed silver? lol
