Hi guys. was looking at the mounts today as I want to get the F28 chassis mount lined up and welded in. As some of you may have seen in my project thread, I had a rather big gap between the mount and the chassis

I put the front end in place today as i'd assumed the chassis legs had sprung apart, but i got the front end to line up and fit relatively easy, and the gap is only just a little smaller than it was :(

My question is, should there be some sort of spacer between the mount and the bracket? As you can see here the metal part of the mount is touching the bracket. this can't be right, can it?

If anyone could take some pics of there's if using the same/similar mounts I would be very greatfull. Also I would appreciate a measurement between the chassis legs if at all possible. Thanks guys

Thats weird. On my solid mounts (they were steel TAS ones not fancy machined ones like that) the metal insert in the rubber protruded enough so it wasn't sitting flush with the bracket. Think I put a washer in there anyway tho. (This with an XE, talking about the drivers side, but the conversion bracket is the same?)

Thanks for the reply. The metal insert on these is recessed. I'm not sure what make they are, I bought them from DJBrowney. I was thinking of making up some sleeves to fit in there, if i put a 12mm one on each side it would make up the gap, but i'd rather have some measurements from someone else 1st as if the legs are wrong i need to fix that 1st before i weld the chasis mount in place :S

Why is nothing ever straight forward lol

I've only got 1 standard mount like that, which was from the spi engine, but it's in such a state I wouldn't trust it to hold the engine lol

dod car have the original measures in front???

very strange that difference.

even you mount with original mounterss, will be a bad work if they stay with that distance... something it's not ok...

I'm sure this has happened before with solid mounts, but a long time ago now.

Is there supposed to be some sort of spacer between the engine and gearbox? As this would account for it?

Click the chassis measurements link in my sig mate and check that your legs are inline.

Thanks for that mate. i already checked the measurements against my mates XE nova, and it's fine. Must be the mounts themeselves so i will make some spacers
