It's not the capacity but the free air displacement you want, check what the gun you're looking at recommends and then go for a compressor with more than that. You can run a gun on a litre reservoir in theory as long as the compressor can keep up. In reality the pressure would be up and down like a yoyo and the compressor on/off, but point remains capacity is not what matters lol

Good advice MK. I have a 150 ltr compressor and it's fine for painting but when using high consumption air tools (a grinder) for example it struggles as the compressor it's self isn't up to it.

i was always told as a rule of thumb, like a welder as much as you can afford lol.

but MK i never knew that.

BMW usually price and 'free air displacement' go hand in hand so your kinda right too

You need a 150 litre 14cfm ideally.

Rexy had a 200 litre 14cfm to paint that corsa in the unit, and he said he was starting to get a pressure dip on the last part of the shell.

I would say anything 3hp, 14cfm and 150 litre will do you.

Anything more your into 3phase.
