View Full Version : 20XE coolant hoses problem - water bar differences?

Trying to fit a Roose silicone hose coolant kit to my 20XE. It's using the standard plastic pipe that goes round the back of the engine.

I'm following this diagram. It looks like the header tank should go to the plastic pipe, as does one of the heater matrix pipes (the other going to the head):

However it looks like my Roose kit wants to do it differently, and its trying to connect to the back coolant bar outlet?

Do I need those coolant bar, where both outlets are on the back, like the one from TXAutosport below?

Cheers!

I think it is because the Roose kit is modelled on the Cav/Cally plastic pipe (as shown).

Think my engine is from an Astra, so just swap the plastic water bar for the type in the last picture and all will be well?

If I can find a good electric heater and do away with the matrix I can just join the head to the water bar I guess.

Or just trim your hose?

Mine (with the Cav/Cally pipe. lol the engine came from an Astra GTE though!)

Very useful picture, thanks. Pipe isn't easily trimmed unless I cut and join it in the middle, as it's flared out for the header tank at one end. Will source the right water bar, cheers.

Yeah? Didn't think they were bad for snapping but suppose they are getting on a bit

The pipe with outlet on top is astra GSi.

You need to either buy a nova silicon pipe or get cav/cally plastic pipe.

The hoses are the Roose Nova/XE hoses, so I'll just change the hard pipe :) Cheers Paul
