Nope there'll be a coolant kit to go with that to replace them all. And maybe a breather kit too, not sure (there is for an XE)

I've never heard of painting hoses but there may be something you can cover them in?! Like a coloured sleeve

Theres some companiees make custom colours.

And yea you can get sleeve kits, ive got some stainless braided over sleeves for mine.

IMO painting the rubber hoses would result in naff looking hoses after a very short period of use. Do it right, do it once. Buy the hoses!!

mk1nova_rich

just buy the proper Samco ones, it may end up costing you nearly as much in coating them with something

Bud this sounds like the pikey way of doing something.

Save a few more pennies and buy proper kit.

if i buy a full hose kit i would like to hear our opinions on what colours or design to go with

its a brown saloon and will be fitting a 1.4sr engine on twin 40's but the engine and engine bay will be beige so i would like brown or beige pipes or maybe the camo ones on this link

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SAMCO-SILICONE-ANCILLARY-KIT-VAUXHALL-NOVA-1-3-1-4-SR-/280562513369?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4152d435d9

please tell me what you think would look good?

Just remember when you fit twin 40's you need to use a slightly different hose setup than on a standard SR :thumb:

cost keeps going up and up, just go get newish pipes if you can find them :)

or do you want pritty blue and red ?

mk1nova_rich
03-01-11, 09:16 PM
Well the autochoke is binned so you have one long hose from the inlet manifold to the heater matrix, instead of the standard hoses which have the T-pieces between them

Silicone or standard mate. There are no shortcuts.

That overbraiding/conduit/repair tape stuff is gash.

As Benn says, if you want to build something special then you need to put your hand in your pocket.

Also Has Anyone Ever Cleaned Up There Engine Bay And Hidden All Pipes Ect On A Car On Twin 40's On A 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 Or 1.6 8v Engine?

General Baxter

it would be very easy tbh lol

it only uses about 4 wires to get it running lol

there are only so many things you can hide...look at Benn's build for inspiration for ideas on the sort of things that can be hidden and what can't. Running wires/pipes between the inner and outer wings is a neat trick. Burgo also ran his bonnet release cable down here if you look in his Saloon build :thumb:

Almost everyone building a car these days is doing that now lol. It's the in thing.
Don't worry about if it's been done. Just do it, and make it the best.

just wondered if anyone had done it and had pics so i can see and i have gone one step further on my nova as i dont have a washer bottle radiator tank, servo or battery in my engine bay its literally going to be just engine box and rad

I might start adding tubes and wires to my bay, show it to a few VW freaks and watch it take over next years shows.

lol. I was thinking of flushing the engine out. Just welding a plate between the legs.

The best way to do it would be to draw a simplified sketch of the engine bay and components in their various locations, work out what pipes/hoses/wires are going to be required then work out where/how you are going to hide them all

No offence novadose2009, but you don't seem to be very forward thinking or confident in your approach to this. I've seen loads of threads from you asking abotu hiding stuff and what you can/can't do. Just dive in IMO. It's only a Nova, if you break something or it doesn't work it won't cost the earth for another!

When I flushed the bay/extended the looms and hid stuff on another car that no-one had done that kind of thing to to I just went at it.

well these are all my own ideas on my own car all im asking is if some has done it before to warn me of any problems i may have or if there are ever better ways of doing something.

im only 19 and limited funds and trying to achieve a magazine cover car on my own, there isnt any rules saying i cant ask for a opinion or help.

And sometimes things have still to be done, someone has to be first...just go for it, and report your findings to advise others of any problems you encounter :thumb:

It seems you know what you want to do. Some hasnt been done before, so the only way is to crack on! No point asking for help/pics of things that havent been done!

 go to Samco, Roose or SFS. Tell them your exact requirements, ie a custom SR kit to suit the 40s, in the colour of your choice. Job done :thumb:

to get in Tv,
std the car fit a LET

get get in chav book,
spend £50k on bodywork and speakers but leave the 50cc engine in there

Good luck. Crack ok. Remember this, it won't be very individual or built by you if you keep asking for ideas.

Also, people may 'steal' your trick touches. Just FYI. As for the hoses, fit the engiee and carbs and see what works and what can be binned, what needs to be lengthended, shortened, a hard pipe etc etc.

If the bay is custom then you ned custom hoses, which may involve buying a few sets and not using it all, and fabricating stuff. No-one can help you here really - if you want to hide it all.

Building a awesome car takes time, years if done right. Dont try and make a car just to get in a mag, build a car cause you want too and how you want it too look.

You need to plan and build the bay and engine first, then when you know where everything will sit and be. Then you can think of hoses. I'm still working mine out as half are custom shape and stuff.
