My mate had a vw caddy and he used some special number plate screws that had leds in them, looked good and did the job.

Not using number plate screws velcroing them on as im using pressed plates so they are easy enough to change for legal ones if i get pulled lol and anyone else done it?

Number plate screws up in the handle would work.

You can also get thin adhesive LED strips. I have them under the doors on the celica as courtesy lights; quite long but you can trim to size. The brightness would be ideal for number plate lighting, and they only set me back about £3 delivered.

Quick thread hijack, does it matter what colour your number plate light is, as long as you can clearly see the number plate??

They might get funny if you have red or green or something but if its like an icey blue colour you should be alright

Well I've seen a couple of cars running about with blue ones... And it's a nice dark blue if you get what I mean?

Well theres only one way to find out for sure try your luck see if you get pulled, to get done for it you would have to be unlucky enough to get a officer that had had a bad day and just felt like being a nob

MOT regs don't actually state the bulb has to be white, just that they don't show "white light directly to the rear". I cba to look in the RVLR stuff right now, but that may cover it.

Benn has a 501 bulb in his, I Done the same to good affects. Could prob do two or more if you wanted a better look.

I couldn't get LED's to give the plate enough light.

Plastic repair kit (from my local bodyshop suppliers) is the only way to do it properly. Glue a piece in, fill and smooth.

Edit: How have you replaced the light?

I'll post a pic of the courtesy lights I put on the Celica. They're surprisingly bright for LEDs, more than enough to light up a reg plate.
