Treated myself to a cheap guitar and amp for xmas.

Since i was a kid, i've always wanted to play.

I am the worlds greatest air guitarist.

My brain ( and fingers ) are killing me. My fingers are too short and stubby to hit the right chords.

More practice i think. :thumb:

the guitar is one line of instrument i wish i had taken up when a kid, i learnt to play a few random things along the way to an extent but never got round to that.

It's mainly the way your wrist wraps around the neck tbh, I find the 'proper' position a right ballache because you need to wrap your wrist far enough round to place your thumb on the back of the neck and have total freedom at your fingers, which means the fingerboard has to be vertical... and when you're learning you need to be looking at it, so it needs to be slightly horizontal, catch 22 lol

I played for a bit on a fender squier but it's had some amateur 'fret filing' done which looks like baxter did it with the angle grinder, so it buzzes like **** and sounds horrible to try and play anything remotely complicated/quick. It can be played well I know as a mate has played for 14 years or so and can knock out a satriani style solo with it almost spot on (it still buzzes a bit even with him) but it requires perfect placement and lots of pressure so crap for learning on.

Had my eye on a replacement before going to uni but couldn't justify the £250 on it.

At the minute , i'm looking at the neck and trying to hit the strings in the right order.

I wish i was abit more crosseyed, it might help. :tard:

Been on youtube, there is a guy who plays allsorts of tunes. He breaks them down so a total nerd ( me ) can understand what to do.

Dan, next time you see me, my left hand will look deformed.

just keep practising dude, you'll find that after a few weeks that your hand will learn to move along the fingerboard easier, one of the things i found when i started playing.

just keep at it rick

It gets easier, once your fingers come to terms with the metal strings. Its quite rewarding when you end up putting some chords together which sound sort of like a song you know lol

Electrics are modified so the bottom tone knob is a push/pull to turn on the neck pick-up (bridge and neck pick-up together sounds amazing)

I love your Gibson... I keep looking at getting one but as my acoustic is still in the box it's probably not worth it :(

Fancy selling them? I've always wanted to learn electric guitar, especially as I listen to metal/rock so would be great if i could knock out some classic Maiden etc.

Just persevere with it Rick, you'll get there :)

It's secure, very secure.

I was nervous the first few days it was up. Now it doesn't bother me.

I needed good quality stuff, they got used around the UK most weekends, and a few times in europe.
