basicly im 17 and currently learning to drive, but not far from taking my test and i baught a 1991 nova luxe 1.2 as my first car. i have already looked around a lot for the cheepest insurance for it and before i go ahead and choose one is there any in particular that stand out from the rest as a good company to go with? im looking to build up my no claims from as early as possible so im trying to stay away from being a named driver on the car on one of my parents policys. cheers

unfortunately you will be charged a ludicrous amount of money wherever you go.

For a Brizzle postcode, I'd say about £1-2k would be the price range you're looking at!

Some companies (such as Admiral/Elephant etc) give small discounts for having a more experienced second driver, so might be worth trying that.

Literally keep checking everyday because insurance prices change that quick that 1 min you could have a bargain and then the next min you refresh the page and they have added 600 quid onto the price. lol.

My 1st year was 2k so good luck.

i was quoted 8k by an insurance company on compare the market:wall:
the area you live in effects it and unfortunatly i live in one of the ****test areas about lol its mad how much insurance companys charge tho,
the price should be the same for all new drivers( depending on the car obviously )and then if you go out and have an accident and your insurance goes up a grand youve got no one to blame but yourself, then the people that keep their lisence clean and have no accidents dont have to pay extorsionate insurance prices:mad:

how old are you? that ridiculous...

im paying £1250 and only that much because i couldnt get pay it off in one hit otherwise it would've been £910 fully comp.

im with admiral, and put my mum and dad on the insurance as named drivers which helps massively.

I paid £1350 back many moons ago (6/7 years) for my 1.2 carb with wheels and an exhaust with Admiral who were by far the cheapest. I was quoted 3k+ by some.

I thought that was bad but it's really bad now. You just have to do a lot of homework, shop about and bite the bullet. If you stay clean then it'll drop the year after and every year after that.

Alaso try companies direct, in my experience the comparison sites overcharge by a considerable percentage - example, quote on my GT4 the other day from Admiral via GoCompare = £462; Admiral direct = £357. LOL. The reason they survive, IMO, is they come up with a long list of prices, so you immediately look at the most expensive one and compare it to the cheapest and think "wow, I'm getting a great saving here"

Also the phone is your friend too, you can usually barter a better deal with "so-and-so quote me £xyz cheaper than you, can you beat that?"

If only that was the case, it seemed to stop dropping at 25 and has now started going up for me

I'm 20 and i've just got my insurance with Allianz for 500 quid fully comp. Insurance is an a-hole i still get quotes for like 2000 on a 1.2 merit.
