View Full Version : Charity adverts..... bugger off!
Argh, We are stuck round the in-laws as we have a broken boiler at home. So I'm catching up on a spot of How its Made and Mythbusters but the dick-suckery channels seem to have the ad breaks filled with iffy loan ads and charity begging.
Iffy loans, meh. BUT I draw the line at being show a polar bear on an ice cube about to die, or some cleff lipped kids who are too poor to fix it etc... This is blackmail FFS so how come its not illegal?
oh and no I dont want to give you £3 a month you ****s. The charities of our choices are going to get a large wedge of cash when we die thanks.

Makes the charity feel that they have done thier bit??!! Fook knows TBH!
I'm going to start a charity and make millions!!!!
Look in the guardian on saturdays for the charity admin jobs and how great the pay is for those, so the big bosses must be on a fortune :)

Whats the Guardian lol :p ;)
If I sponsor a polar bear, I want a percentage of that bears time. I demand it comes and does tricks for me at home, brings me beer etc. I demand penance for my monies!
likewise if I pay for some kid to have its face rebuilt I went them to become my skivvy

Subliminal advertising ploy IMO.
They've been at it for years.

In a way I can understand why we should sponsor a polar bear. One reason being, they're cool. And, we have contributed heavily to this global warming thing or whatever load of rubbish they've come up with now. Therefore, damaging its environment.
As for those stupid Africans. I couldn't care less. Stop having kids. I'll pay £100 to a charity to sterilise all of them. At least that way I won't have to watch these adverts.
was there not a polar bear in Lost...therefor proving they can live in the tropics...oh look ive just saved the species...now pay me for thinking :d

easy there.
as for hooomans breaking the planet with the climate change lark, I think thats a little arrogant of 'us' (and almost as arrogant to think 'we' can fix it too)
Charity workers that stand in town do my nut in too. Came very close to smacking a lady from the NSPCC who could not understand why I was getting aggrevated at her talking to me. I'd already told her I didn't have my bank details on me and that I was desperate for the loo and hungry so didn't have time to stop...and she actually offered to come to the toilet with me and to get food so we could go to the bank afterwards!!! It was raining as well so I was highly un amused especially when she came out with the gem of "how would you like it if your baby was being abused and felt they had no one to go to...we could help"

do they drop food from a plane?
I can only see that making the problem worse lol lol
The planes are a big contributor (apparently) to global warming.
I hate these sorts of adverts as well.
I can and will never understand how people who love animals to bits can get on a plane and go see them, they are not helping the situation at all.
I could rant all day about them tbh!!

lollol I like that.

They're the most ridiculous ones tbh, £3 a month to save the animals/world/solve world hunger etc fair enough.
But you want £150 quid to fix the kids funny lip?! How is that a fantastic way of spending donated money next to I dunno, feeding the kid so he even realises the lip is a problem in the first place? lol
What always gets me is,why do we raise money for other countries when you can go to some areas of the country where kids/parents live in poverty?
Do we raise cash for them? no.
We are in the middle of some of the hardest financial times in our lifetimes and yet they ask for money? i think its in extremely bad taste tbh, especially when you consider how much the advert would have cost to make and also the fee to whatever channel its on.

oh the % of the money that actually makes it to the item you have given to is miniscule... hence why I flat refuse to give money to scamster research UK.
Charity admin costs are rather high, hence the big salary jobs you can find working for them lol

So what your saying is, if you could go and give them the money personally you would? Lol
I suppose had a degree of arrogance about it all. We've all been fortunate enough to have been born out of poverty. But at the same time, I've yet to see them do anything to help there selves, other than rape they're own women, and kill the people that we send there to help them.

yep.
give money direct and atleast they can buy drugs/hoes/booze with it all rather than a few pence of it
i can't abide the cleft palate ads..... ask yourself this... why are there so many kids in india with them when it is a really rare occurence over here...... inbreeding.. uncles marrying neices etc......so we pay for inbred kids to get fixed so they can then marry another cousin & have some more...
i really hate the 'send a cow to africa' smug b4stards... if you bought a british cow & sent it to kenya, it would last about a day before dropping dead from dehydration. but these ladies of a certain age can't understand my arguments, and then the compassion in world farming lot who use posters of animals in foreign countries to try & raise funds whilst defaming british farming with arguably the best animal welfare in the world... they get told exactly what i think of them..
