Only just  beat a TDi discovery away from some lights today, didnt try at first so was already in second by time i woke up then couldnt put my foot down cos of my throttle anyway ended up just crreping past him. Usually these can be dusted even without trying on part throttle so got me thinking about finding out what sort of state my cars in.
Anyway on way home went past a garage advertising RR sessions for ?25 thought i'd ask you lot whether or not its worth the effort? What do i get? BHP an torque outputs? Will they be able to cure any flatspots or just point them out?
Cheers peeps.

I wanna take mine on the RR when i got engine mostly finished. There is only 1 garage near me (Devon) that does it i think.
Would be interesting.
Do they tune the car when u go to get the most out of RR? or do they just test it and give u piece of paper and thats it?
depending on the company they will check the basic settings, such as ign timing and fuelling. then they stick it on the rollers and monitor the fuelling while a power run is done
ocne the run is done you get a power, torque and usually a gearbox drag plot. this will allow you to workout what you may wish to do. if its jsut fuelling problem they can change carb jets etc

my experience with velos is they make sure the car is safe to go on the RR (no mechanics will fail)
then set the timing at TDC.
whack it on the rollers, to see what bhp you start with.
then adjust fuelling
get a second reading (at 1000 rpm intervals)
then try and tweak fuelling maybe a bit more, and see the effect of advance retard ignition timing.
then the third and final reading they do a prinout at same time as it plots it on the computer.........
i defo would say its worth it
they got me 7bhp on my old engine!!!!!

The only RR near me that i know of is at Bickington Garage, Near Barnstaple (North Devon).
Snowface - Where abouts in North Devon do you live?
I residence in Pilton, Barnstaple!
Its Dave Baskervilles at Bickington Garage. I had my Nova suerchipped their back in January.
They seem very good & like you say they are the only ones in North Devon!

The lad who brought my Nova off me a few months ago lives in North Devon and took it there last Friday for a R/R session, he says they know their stuff and got it set up stop on. The power run gave just over 100bhp at the wheels I think, not bad from a 1400!!

Hey Dave. I live near clovelly, the other side of Bideford.
Glad to hear that Bickington is a good garage. Might have to take a visit once i get sorted.
I go to college at Barnstaple. Just about to finish course in a couple weeks though. Then into the big wide world.
