ive had some engine parts chromed but as of engine change they are forsale and was planning on getting same parts chromed again of new engine ect but i was thinking what gold plating would look like and if anyone can do it for me.
heres a small rough list of parts i want chromed / gold plated
engine mounts
rocker cover
twin 40 parts
all engine bolts ect inc wing bolts.im not sure if i should all chrome, all gold plate or do a mixture of both anyone had gold plating done before or anyn opinions please..
thanks
my mate does gold plating in lincoln i will find out his website for you
Depends on the general style of the car. Gold is usually associated with euro id say.
Get it crinkle coated instead, dont see much of that, and its sweet.

24K Gold plated. Been done years. Although IIRC it has had to be redone a couple of times.

My uncle owns a big factory in Birmingham that gold and silver plate things. I haven't spoke to him for few years but could give him a ring and find out if they could do it. It's called E gilligans and sons iirc :)

IMO gold plating should be used in small quantities just for that extra detail or as a focal point. Too much gold/chrome can sometimes be a bit too much.
The pic above is my point. Looks impressive but tbh it looks a bit messy and all over the place for me.
I'm looking to gold plate only my spark plug cover on the LET, just to set it off.

IMO gold plating is hidious.
A local fella has a 67 lambretta all gold, looks too ott.
I prefer a subtle powder coat, or maybe a mirror polish.

My point exactly. Of my whole engine bay only the plug cover will be plated and that's to break up the blackness of the rocker cover and other bits in the bay.
With chrome and other really shiny stuff it's always best to use it for small details just to accentuate rather than do the lot in it.

Go chrome. Gold will look tacky IMO.
How is the crackle finish done? Is it a diy job or by a powder coaters?

Local powder coaters got a good reputation locally refurbing wheels, they did my RFX's too
polished ftw

Personally, I would associate the 3 types of finish like so:
Crinkle - performance
Polish/chrome - half show half performance
Gold - pure bling
But i suppose everybody has different perceptions

think it would look good with a mixture of chrome and gold plating,
i would like to have rocker cover chromed ect but then all the engine bay bolt gold plated ect
It is tacky I agree. Each to their own though.
I only posted a pic of Andy's Almera as it's what the OP asked for. It's interesting to see how messy his bay is as that was all years before wire tucks were the done thing over here. lol
OTT gold and chrome plating belongs on lo-lo's ese! lol

Sounds about right.
Yeah its ceramic coating Benn, drastically reduces underbonnet temps but comes at a hefty price unfortunatly :( £30+vat per linear foot I pay.
