well today ive swapped the flywheel and went to fit the clutch till i realised i havnt got any bolts for it!

Also i picked this up the other day, it needs some work, like a new roof, new disks and pads, and a water pump, and then a bloody good valet.
Its got every optional extra you can think of! 2 tone leather(red and black), cd changer, electric everything, chrome pack, upgraded stereo system and speakers etc. etc. Its only the lil 1.9 engine but still pulls well, only 82,000 miles too!
It'll be a little side project and then sell it when the sun turns up in march time.

Im hoping so! It does have a little bit of rust an the odd mark in the paintwork, but it will come up ok for now, till the missus lets me spend some money on a strip down and full paint job.
I need to get it running first tho.:d

hopefull ill be tinkering with this on sunday :-) im hoping to get the engine and box bolted together and get it mounted in place, ish, as i still need the rear gearbox mount bracket. :( and do some tinkering on the z3 too

maddogdaz666
18-01-11, 06:38 PM
Got the flywheel bolted up properly today, and got the clutch on and the gearbox on the engine, and the gearbox mounts on the box all ready to go in,
One thing ive started to worry about is the vectra engine loom, the ecu doesnt go thru the bulkhead like the V6 cavs do. Any suggestions? Does anyone have a cav V6 engine loom, inlet manifold etc? i might just bolt them onto my 3.0 engine and bolt that in?

Plans are to keep it simple keep the lil 1.2 that rich has put in it, MOT it n TAX it n use it as a cheap daily for now, then after ive built my new garage i will play with it somehow, it all depends on whats up for sale when ive got the cash. :thumb:

08-02-12, 05:12 PM
well ive sold the engine, and bought tigra 1.6 16v for £50!! Im gonna break it and drop the engine in the astra for now as a cheap runner, as the V6 combo van is costing me too much to run about in lol (but i do love the V6 noise and Grunt!)
so if anyone wants any tigra parts let me know :thumb:
Or anyone want a V6 combo van?? lol

maddogdaz666
23-02-12, 04:36 PM
been thinking since the vans gone. I miss the V6 noise, and ive been looking at saab 3.0 V6 Turbos. Theyre getting cheap now!
So the plan st the min is, Drop the x16xe into it for the summer, then next winter, after ive built my garage, im gonna buy a saab v6 turbo (the full car) and strip it for the engine and brakes and possibly alloys, and whatever else i can use, sell what i can and weigh the rest in. Hopefully it shouldnt cost me too much then, just my time.
Then sell the x16xe as a full conversion. So in theory it wont cost me any money to v6 turbo it! if all goes to plan lol

Gonna start this weekend cleaning the inner arches up and painting them white, and then look at stripping the tigra for its engine and wiring for the transponder, and then get the shell weighed in so ive got more space on the drive lol. as ive got a polo in for a new clutch and some welding for MOT work and ive got a 206 for sale, the mrs golf, and the nova saloon. as well as the tigra and this astra lol lol lol.

Nobby
23-02-12, 07:26 PM
Exactly my plan matey im running n/a this season and then Turbo next winter! Should be fun lol :thumb:

maddogdaz666
23-02-12, 09:04 PM
sweet! Ill see you on the drag strip then :) im sure ive said that before lol.
I was gonna do it to one of the mk4 estates i had years ago but it was too expensive, now theyre affordable, but i need to build a garage first!

maddogdaz666
22-04-12, 04:51 PM
Well I thought I'd best update this. This is the first time I've done it on the phone so bear with me:
I got it up in the air
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/73bcee4a.jpg

And painted all the inner arches and started to paint the suspension components

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/14847f99.jpg

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/dfde9858.jpg

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/17a280fe.jpg

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/e1892c6a.jpg

maddogdaz666
22-04-12, 05:01 PM
Then I stripped the Tigra of its loom and engine, I took the dash out first so I could take out all the transponder loom as much as possible, then put the engine in the Astra with the help of my friend chicken.

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/4ff7d8c0.jpg

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/326a9033.jpg

And then:
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/1e9a725c.jpg

Who needs an engine crane!!!!! Just need me and chicken and a bit of ingenuity!
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/1354976e.jpg

And the bit of loom I made to convert the Astra to the Tigra engine loom, so I didn't have to cut into the engine loom, or the Astra car loom :)
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/ffb54b03.jpg

And she's in!!
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/b37e84e8.jpg

The mileage check 87,500 on the Tigra and 103,200 on the Astra.
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/2079edc7.jpg

maddogdaz666
22-04-12, 05:16 PM
And then she's running!! I had a few problems with the chip being taped in the wrong place but now that's sorted! This is her sat on the Astra GTE rims

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/5dc9935e.jpg

I was never a fan but I need it to have some wheels on!!!
Anyway I found a nice set of bbs RX's on the bay of E so made a last minute bid and bought then and a very reasonable price I thought

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/e5791e88.jpg

They came with brand new 205/50/16 tyres on, I was a little dubious but I thought they should fit, but when I got home I tried them on(at 11:20pm!!!!) and unfortunately the rears were never going to fit with the large tyres, (sorry no pics it was dark and very wet!!) do I put the tyres up for sale and pulled out the set of 195/45/16's I had in the garage :)

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/e0ef96e6.jpg

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/c18c4312.jpg

Next job Is to swap all the suspension and springs, at the min the front is on standard mk3 struts and the rear has warmed up springs.
I have a set of Koni shocks and lowering springs to go on :) and then fit the V6 callipers and meriva discs now I've got bigger wheels to fit them under

MK999
22-04-12, 05:26 PM
Those RX's are ridiculously light!! Last time I picked one up I nearly smashed myself in the nose with it lol Good buy imo :d

maddogdaz666
22-04-12, 05:49 PM
Apparently they're magnizium? Not too sure that's what I got told after I'd bought them??

I just bloody love them, I'm looking for another set to be honest :)

maddogdaz666
22-04-12, 05:50 PM
They will be refurbed at some point I just wanna get the car MOT'd and tax'd for the NATS

MK999
22-04-12, 05:56 PM
I wouldn't be surprised as they are surprisingly light, we stripped a set off of a Vectra a while ago and I would have had them for mine if they were 4 stud, just based on how light they are.

Lewis.
22-04-12, 06:20 PM

22-04-12, 08:30 PM
looking good mate :)

Cheers, it's nothing like I'd like it to be but I love it, It will have more work at a later date, I'd like some cream leather seats, possibly from a calibra, and I'm gonna clean up the front and rear bumpers and paint them, along with the GTE skirts I've got, in a Upol mid grey colour. And then concentrate on the cars bodywork after.

mk1nova_rich
23-04-12, 03:43 PM
Good work Daz, although it looked better with the GTE alloys and orange indicators :p

maddogdaz666
23-04-12, 04:54 PM
Sorry rich but I hate GTE rims lol but I'm still unsure about the clear front indicators cos it looks too plain on the front. I might swap them back

maddogdaz666
09-08-12, 01:02 AM
Unfortunately I'm gonna have to sell this, I need more money for my garage build :(
