trackday tyres

I'm doing my first trackday on 21st january at cadwell park and i want to get some decent tyres for it
I have used proxes r888 for 1/4miles before and they were great but i wont have enough money for them:(
dose anyone know of some decent ones that are not do high priced:confused:

Sadly there isn't really anything specifically for trackdays that is cheap.

I would use a Kumho V70 over a Toyo 888 these days but they are just over £100 a corner.

what bout sports type? for exmaple i have seen some people use proxes TR1's

Don't get me wrong, they work and tbh if your on a budget they will do but their not trackday tyres.

Personally the worst thing to use on a dry track is new tyres like that as they just get hot and melt all the tread into the grooves.

They are better than most things though so get them on the car and get them scrubbed in asap, don't over do it with the tyres pressures on track either or they'll wear even quicker.

Toyo t1r's are £120 for 4.

Even if you get one trackday, its not rediculous.

Cheap as chips, when you go for track day tyres either use Yoko's or Kumho's as they do better compounds which actually last !

I run Yokohama Advan AO32 soft compound, lasted well and gave loads of grip (once up to temp lol).

Have a look on fleebay as there are loads of part worn track tyres for the good money.

Youll want rain sports for that, in fact maybe studded snow tyres, or chains?

In all seriousness youll want rainsports or similar.
