well, after 25 odd years of playing with novas, and getting royally abused by my brother (and he is my employer) for being so stupid as to keep owning them, even though my nephew was conceived in one.........(long story involving a broken seat adjuster), i have some incredible news.......

my brother employs a bloke who is actually a really good bodyshop man, but he doesn't actually like doing it full time, so 4 days a week, this bloke is a groundworker for our firm.

i've just spent the last fortnight out driving lorries & upon my return, i found that my nova was missing from where i parked it...

now, the more observant of you will remember that i had a minor accident in it the other week, and i assumed that simon had taken it to straighten it out for me.

tonight i found out that my xmas bonus is that it is getting the full respray that i have been hopelessly saving for...................

WOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

merry christmas

take it back to the roots and make it even more sentimental

carmine red :)

mowgli
24-12-10, 10:47 PM
do you still have those sxi wheels on?

yup, i really like the look, but i'm tempted to try & find some nice steelies for the full sleeper look, but for £50 with 4 good pirellis, they are still a great bargain, thank god for dyslexic eBayers

Mieran
24-12-10, 10:48 PM
please take them off, they don't suit Novas at all.

I would rather have some slabs, tear drops or something!

Modern paint shouldn't fade as bad. Just wax it now and then with a quality wax and it will be fine.

Is a fantastic colour, that car used to be my housemate's and it's honestly gorgeous in the flesh, that pic doesn't come close to doing it justice.

LMFAO at suggestions of slabs, they look absolutely vomit.
Teardrops are only good in white imo.
I like the Sxi wheels, they look good.
And getting back to colour,by far the winner for me would be carmine red.

The paintwork looks fine in that pic, a little flat maybe but nothing terminal. Was it something of a 30 yard car then?

Should be looking great when you get it back. :thumb:

mowgli
14-01-11, 04:46 PM
you would struggle to put an a4 sheet of paper on it and miss a dent... it languished in the firms workshop for ages & one particular ex employee loved to throw stuff on it. then someone as a favour tried to weld a repair panel to the drivers door......and the paint was flame pink.....

i tarted it up & colour magic'd it for the above pic.... but it looked crap close up

L14MNP
14-01-11, 04:50 PM
Got ya. Dents, dings and flat paint are easily cured. You're laughing as long it hasn't contracted the Big C.

I hate people using cars as shelves. A mate of mine is known for it, I keep my cars in good order, but his never so much as see a jet wash. So when working on his I get wrong for putting the tools 'out of reach' by placing them on the floor etc and when it's my turn I have to stop him from lying ratchets on the windscreen, inner wings, roof etc.

Some people have no respect.

mowgli
14-01-11, 04:54 PM
hmmmm try 20 sheets of roof insulation, the stuff with tin foil stuck both sides, then twisted.....on top of really serious dust....

the worst thing was when a worker painted some rainpipes with some environmentally friendly spray enamel...... and covered everything in a 30m radius with overspray..... i had to use thinners & stanley blades on the glass....

Edd
14-01-11, 05:34 PM

mowgli
14-01-11, 06:24 PM

That happened at my dad's work, they where painting big metal containers in the wind.

My dad's new Insinga was covered as was the bosses 10plate Audi A8RS, one of the other bosses 09 plate AMG Mecr and two new bikes, there was hell to pay. And a big bill.

We need pics too.

i was using it for all of october, november & half of december as a daily driver, thru all the snow & big freeze....and it was working fine, then i was driving a wagon & had a night out & my brother sneaked my spare keys from home & the car was gone for nearly 2 days before i found out....& then i was strung along about it going to have its minor accident damage fixed (when some divot delivering pizzas decided to do a ropey attempt at a u turn on the cov road), and it was only on xmas eve did i find out what was really going on, so it was mad panic time getting the new doors to him & all the other bits i'd been saving.....
