i'm guessing you bought it off bmw156, cos he has been putting it about that they are rare so he can sell his stock of them.... the were mostly bought new by old codgers to fit them to saloons

I concur. lol

Not overly rare, they come up quite often. Only a select market for them too. Still, I quite like them - I keep meaning to get ahold of one when funds allow.

FLOL..

i had 3 at one point.
and made big money on all of them!
two were bought from the parts day lol.

i think i sold one to edd. the BNIB one.
one was still on the car when craig had it.
not sure on the last one it was red. IIRC.

i had one, the one with the "hella" gel sticker in the corner (the one that Beggsy now has) i was under the impression that they wernt common, as i havent seen many about.

back in 1985-87, these grilles were not exactly considered cool, ok. usually the nova saloons that had them fitted also had towbars...

hella did a whole range of 'styling' goodies for lots of european cars, and especially gm stuff.... front & rear bumpers, skirts, and these grilles. and they were usually badly colour coded... they were truly hideous, and history has forgotten them.. i think i have an old hella catalogue in the shed, i might resurrect it

You sold me the new one for £45 :d

I then sold it on eBay.de for €150 :)

Not to my taste either, I think its down to it being based on a poverty spec grill, imo it would of been a far nice addition if it was based on a sr/gte grill

mk1 novas can look excellent with front 6" spotlamps. i had a set of hella comet 500's that i mounted on brackets from under the bumper, so i didn't drill anything, they also added to the lighting ability. most people fitted square fog lamps back in the day, cos they were cheaper
