Any One Ever Smoothed A MK1 Skinny Bumper?

i have got odd coloured bumpers on my saloon and cannot find a replacement right colour has anyone ever smoothed the suage lines out of them before and painted them?, or just painted them without smoothing?

id think it would look dodgy aswell matey lol the facelift sr/gte bumper looks poo smoothed imo!!!
