Just had a high spec 180bhp 1400 motor built for my nova and i have been told i need a 2 1/4 inch system for it.

i think its a 2 inch Janpseed system thats on the car just now..

how do i mesure it?

is it 2 1/4 Outside Diameter of the bore?

Any reccomendatiosn for competition exhausts? wont matter what system it is, as the flange will be getting cut off and mated to a different manifold/downpipe as it is NOT a vauxhall engine.

If they still made them - BTB.

I assume that this is a 16valve lump producing the 180bhp.....

2.25" in internal, and by my calulations, 2" is more than plenty for an engine of that capacity.

I only use 3" on 6.7Litres of V8 producing circa 700hp.

Its actually a 1300 suzuki 16v engine bored out to 1400cc with forged pistons, fancy crank, fancy head, bla bla bla..

i have been tld by my engine builder to get a 2 1/4 system and Bill Falconer (Vauxhall 16v engine builder gave us all the info/parts and he aid i would need a 2 1/4 exhaust..

who knows?

i know martin bowyer suggest a 2.25 system on the 1600s as thats what ive just had made but ive got a sbd mani too, but i know bill has a system that id imagine would suit for engine, but why not get one made to the car?

A 2 1/4 system is a sensible size for the pressures that are in the system, 2 1/2 system is for things around 2 litres so i would suggest a 2 1/4, Eurorallye do normally have them, but not sure on quality etc.
