hi all iv just got a nova with the c20xe redtop engine. i want to make it 200bhp. wat work do i need to do to get 200bhp?? all its got at the mo is a k&n filter.

A 20 year old Nova will be more reliable than a Clio.

Also, some of them can be as low as 140bhp

Hardly a fair basis to say that 172's are slow then is it, thats like saying porsche 911 carrera turbos are slow because ive been in a nova saloon that beat one (said nova has a 300bhp let btw) so again is an unfair comparison:roll:



Remove the turbo and i guarantee you the clio will hand the 106 its ass!

Sorry that is utter nonsense. A 300bhp P2/3 (blue pegs i assume) will not beat a 911 turbo. If hedid then the porsche driver was not trying.

Well we did, it might be wrong on what model it was as im not too up on porsches but it said 'carrera' on the boot though, ask Rich he will back me up:d

A turbo will do 0-100 in under 10seconds. Over 500lb/ft torque IIRC.

Paul, the green nova was doing low 9's to 100mph so I could believe it.

A proper Porsche turbo does weigh a fair bit !

That said, its got massive top speed capability which the nova hasn't with that power.

The porsche will do late 11s & 115ish and go on to 190mph.

I possibly wouldn't go as far as saying that a phase 2 nova could beat one but it could certainly keep up to the wrong side of 120.

No way would you touch one when it comes to top speed though

if he had gone for uber top speed he would of done me i accept this, but he came bimbling up in the middle lane i gave it a bootfull stook to his bumper for a bit then passed him at which point the driver gave me a tumbs up and trust me the way that thing squated when i pulled out he was trying, the loon is phase 3

also bear in mind a 911 weighs 1570kgs so power to weight ratio may be alot closer, and we were on a roling start so no issues with grip

You need 280ish bhp, and 300ish ibft of torque to be roughly the same.

BUT then over 70mph, shape of the car factors dramatically, like pushing a brick through the air.

I have been in a 280bhp loon and beaten a EVO FQ400, but when the windows start moving, mirrors flapping and the wipers bending, I thought i'd rather be in the refined evo, designed for the speed.
