Continuation from the XE no spark thread,

I just disconnected the crank sensor at the 3 pin plug and put a volt meter across and its only reading 4.68v. I just read that it is suppose to be in the region of 10.5v ?

The CS that take power are +5v so 4.68 is a reasonable value.

You need to find the +5v wire and the return signal wire, rather than the earth. Move something metal quickly past the end of the sensor and you should see the volt meter flicker - however, a knackered sensor will still output, just not what it's supposed to - hence the 'rev limit' people see at around 4-5k rpm when they go.
