Broke 2 ratchets the other night whilst mincing with the nova. These where both cheap halfrauds items so no big deal. Today I got a 'laser' ratchet and it seems quite good quality ( well the drive is nice and tight, and overall pretty heavy lol)
Just wondering what brands the rest of you lot use and what's good etc? I ain't buying anymore cheap stuff, in the hope that if I buy good stuff once it will not need replaced for a good while.
I don't need tools for work or anything just occasional messing in the garage of an evening.:)
Snap on :) pic whore of my tool box soon i think :) lol

A mix of Snap On, Britool (mainly my dads from his Rolls Royce days) and others! All serve me very well!
Halfords professional stuff here, really good quality but unfortunately they now wont honour the 'break it and we will replace it for life' unless you have the receipt, damnit, i lost that fooker two years ago:cry:

Tried to get my 1/2 inch extension replaced as the locking bearing fell out of it and the sockets keep falling off, but apparently theyve had loads of people buying broken crap cheap and asking for replacements they now demand the receipt, they did however swap it for one from the store set which wasnt too bad, till i got it home and found the bearing is seized in so its fcuking useless, great cheers nob!

im a hgv mechanic i use snap-on, mac, signet, CK, and halfords pro only thing i ever really break is reducers and powerbars and thats only because truck caliperbolts are extreamly tight and halfords powerbars dont like scafholding haha and reducers dont really like them ayther
Never had a problem with any of my Sealey stuff.
....and that includes doing the man thing of using the ratchets as hammers lol

I believe the Halfrauds Pro stuff is made in the same factory as the Snap on stuff...
kd spanners along with a few other sets, few mac items, sealey, sykes, clarke 150 turbo mig, 90 mig and compressor, SIP air saw and airgun bit of everything really, dont stick with a single make. have about 6 socket sets of various makes/quality.
shockingly i am going to agree with jack . My sealey stuff has been to hell and back from years and years of abuse/ slammed into the floor/ beat senseless by the biggest lump hammer i could find, and yet it still all works like the day when i bought it and keeps smiling lol
Not sure about sealey tbh i snapped a half inch breaker bar trying to undo driveshaft nuts on impreza at mull this year.

You'll break good tools too. The only reason people use Snap- on is the you break it we change it policy.

buy a ratchet for £90 lasts a lifetime till it gets lost
buy 9x £10 ratchet, hit them with hammers, who cares if they goes walkies
i once lost a £250 hammer, :(

Ah, but if you break a Snap-On ratchet whilst using it with say a Draper socket it viods the warranty. I found that old chestnut out by breaking a SnapOn rattle gun with BETA impact socket attached to it.

well dont tell him, lol
and they dont like a 12ft bar on a 1/4 ratchet lol
well dont tell him, lol
He pulled the cúnts trick of "what were you doing when you broke it" qeustion, so obviously showed him, an the socket in qeustion. Foot. Shot. Myself. Springs to mind.

Really? Again i wouldn't leave anything on it.. I've broken a few of the ring gears in there ratchets while in the body shop.
Found on the longer arm ones they break easy..

blue point is good because if it breaks they wil replace it with snap on, i like my snap on tools, when i started of i had lots of cheap stuff, then gradually started replacing it with snap on and teng stuff, snap imo is usualy 90% better than the rest of the stuff on the market, a lot dearer yes but nothing like lifetime warranty on most of your tools
Be careful with blue point though, the warranty of alot of the stuff is only 12mnths!

my stuff tends to fall down drains, and get left on jobs, when the trailer it blocking the road, and the police man is asking how long it will take lol

That box has indeed been well stuffed with big tools. All my equipment still wont fit though!!!!
Fortunately I have access to a couple of other boxes to keep things right.
I'm glad neither of you think of me as a tool though :d

Dont know how to use or if I can being a new poster and strainger to you all on here but +rep to all the posts on the last few pages LMFAF!!!!!
I use Snap-On and Mac at work, and bring what I need home as I cant bear to use cheap crap at home. Cheap tools are definitely a false economy, and a nice Snap-On ratchet has a much nicer feel to it than a draper/laser/clarke POS so is much easier to work with.
I believe the Halfrauds Pro stuff is made in the same factory as the Snap on stuff...
Snap-On tools are (mostly) made in Kenosha, USA and halfords tools are made for them by Danaher, in the far east
