i no this sounds funny but when i give the car some stick i get flames from the back boxs lol would it be burning the gasket and going in the the pistons?

No.

Basically the flames from your exhaust is unburnt fuel in the exhaust system igniting as you put your foot down.

Check in the header tank and oil cap for signs of oil mixing with water (a little bit might be in the oil cap anyway from condensation). As said, flames normally = overfueling, which means a knackered lambda if you have one or wrong ignition/cam timing

My timing is alright (1.2 carb before you ask lol) and I still get the occasional flame... Mind you that could be because I am running a cherry bomb... Maybe?

The exhaust shouldn't have an effect really, its more likely your carb is throwing too much fuel in on overrun or suchlike

Damn. Another thing on the list to sort out then. Even though I did set the carb up using the emissions tester at college not too long ago... Can't remember when the last flame was seen lol, I know she likes to pop a bit as well lol

It may only be on overun. So if you come off the power and back on very quickly. I used to get it all the time on a v8 landrover on carbs. sounded amazing!lol

lol I bet!

Haven't had a flame report for a while so I think I stopped that when I set up my carb etc through the emissions tester...

And when I am decelerating it pops and bangs rather loudly lol I quite like it to be honest...

lol

Knackered header tank cap? It may not be fully sealing and is evaporating.
