Fcuk your Lotus Carlton. I've a horse outside.

Was there that much changed to turn a GSi shell into an LC? Hacked about arches and what else?

IIRC some slight changes to the rear suspension pickups for the Holden rear end.

The 5K engine is now re-listed at £4750.

Still a bit rich. But less than the £12K that the bloke with the shell wants.

I would so buy both of them if I had the spare 10k. Would be an dream come epically true.

Would be better modding a standard gsi IMO.

For the money there's no logbook, so you need to buy a running one first.

A friend of a friend has a full car up for £8000

I like cars, and know a lot of people

I only found out about it due to my mate rob going to buy it, but it boiled over when he was there, and the management light came on.

I can try and get pics.

Never really watch telly.

In the garage or tinkering with something in the shed usually.

So no idea on pic.

Eleveneriffe? You've been to Teneriffe, he has to go one better lol

I wouldn't put that kind of money into a shell regardless of what it is! And the engine is crazy. At the end of the say you buy the pair and build it, it will either be a Brown Nova Sport scenario, or end up on a Q plate. Finding enough new parts to have it registered on a new plate will be verging on impossible.

I'd rather buy something like the below link and stick around 5-6k into a rebuild from the ground up

^^^ that looks and sounds very nice

IMO the shells too dear, but the engine will sell I reckon

Agreed, the engine is more versatile in that it could be put into anything. Plus its more than just a standard Carlton engine, where as the shell is pretty much the same thing, no?

If it was advertised as a bog std Carlton GSi shell it would probably only fetch £300 lol

LMFAO @ eleveneriffe lol

The shell and engine are the are nothing. You'll not be able to get most of the suspension bits, then you have an interior and gearbox to find. Oh and the wheels and **** loads of other stuff.

As for what's different with the shell. It's not just the rear arches. the transmission tunnel is different due to the ZF gearbox.

I know about 20 Lotus Carlton owners. :p

Aye was thinking that all the nitty gritty bits would be fun to get! As someone said before shell is best to reshell a rotten/wrecked one, which would open up a whole other can of worms........
