no,its the same car more or less as the manta,you must be thinking of the mk2 cav they were all fwd

No Mk1 1 Cavaliers were made upto @ V reg (old V plate @1980 ish)

Were RWD, 1.6, 1.9 maybe & 2.0 litre petrols
