View Full Version : Are Strut Braces Worth Fitting?
Are strut braces worth fitting, and if so are they hard to fit? what do they actualy do other than make the car look cool?
yup-they stiffen up the chassis a treat and I found a marked improvment in the handling of my car. well worth the money. If you can get one of the sets as its good VFM and well worth having both front ones.

How does the rear one fit, from strut to strut? As I have a bass box, do you think this would get in the way or not?
I think I defo need one for the front then as I get alot of jitterishnes as mike calls it!

I am not 100% sure which bit a strut brace is....
Does it go from the top of each suspension mount under the bonnet, or is that something else? If it is, you say there are 2 for the front - where does the other one go?
Cheers

Is this true? I heard that strut braces can "transfer" crash damage. ie if you crash one side of the car up the strut brace will carry it over to the other side causing twice as much damage?

thats correct... but if u stuff it bad enough to move the strut tops then the car will be fucked anyway

I stuffed my SR into a truck, and the strut brace held the front of the car together. Without it I think I might have had trapped legs! I got straight out though. (got piccies if you want).
I also found marked handling improvement, as the inside front wheel doesn't lift and spin as much when cornering hard.

Would you recommend just getting the top one, or putting on the top and bottom one (on the front)?
How much do they cost?

top one at least
lower one if you can afford it.
then the rear
right I have fitted one along with a full gmax -60mm suspension kit and the car handles amazingly, rides a bit on the firm side though
