oil - breather spewing!

right - spoken to Mike and Aragorn ref this but they aint sure...

My car seems to be leaking oil from the oil breather pipe - rapidly
its all over the underside of the car (pipes extended to the ground by offside front wheel). Theres that much its spraying under the car and splattering in a fine spray over the rear of the car.

Its not coming out the zorst (no smoke) and the car seems to be running ok - although it is a little sluggish on acceleration - but then Ive just had weber fitted which might need adjusting slightly (along with timing).

So why's the oil spewing out the oil breather pipe?

Oil lights come on and stayed on even after sticking 1/5 ltrs of oil in car - might need a little more.

Could it be oil pump? But why is it coming out of breather pipe?

heads ok - compression test done recently all fine, no sludge in rocker area, engine idles fine (if a little fast) and no spluttering.

I'm not using the car at the mo - just took her for a leisurely spin at the weekend

I had this fucking problem on a nova 1.3sr that i used to have! Its like yellow sludge that comes out and it comes out as vapour to start off with, but if you put a container underneath it, it will fill with yellow sludge. To this day, i still dont know what it was. I just stuck a k&n oil breather on then end of the breather pipe and got a stella can and wrapped it round a beans tin and put the breather inside it, and i had to empty it every month and top up the oil. The car seemed to run ok.

the breather will spit some oil... mine does it on hard cornering... if ur oil light is on then something is wrong... have you checked the oil level after standing overnight on a level surface?

put it this way - I check oil the night before and it was full (I think) - went for a drive (about 70 miles or so) - windy roads, average 50 mph - some rapid acceleration - nowt serious and the light came on as I was driving home (end of drive) - checked oil after 5 mins standing and there was a little black mark of oil on the end of the stick!

Not checked it since Sunday (last time used), so will check then - it prob could do with service - 1st since new engine fitted - will prob do this weekend.

thats 1 liter of oil (or more) no way that much is going out the breather... i say it's burning it

the back end is covered in small oil stains but it aint burning it - no smoke at all and theres no "smokey" smell

Honestly - theres a puddle under the car from when I stopped the other day.

I'm gonna do a service and take it for a spin - maybe take a pic of the after effects...
