whats the best carb to run on a high spec 1300 engine? at the moment it is running on 45's but i am restricted to 2 chokes per 4 cylinders so i cant run twin carbs.

i have a webber 32/34 carb mounted on inlet to fit onto 1300 but dont think this will be big enough. what other options are there?

Yes, that's the carb to use. 38DGAS is auto-choke. 38DGS is manual.
You can find them on 2.8, and 3.0L Ford V6's.

Another option is a 40DCNF, or a 44DCNF, or even a 48DCNF!!

If it has to be from a production saloon car, then the 40DCNF (three of them!) was fitted to the Fiat "Dino" (1968 to 1973) - the "Coupe" can be classified as a "Saloon Car".

You could also try a 32/36

thanks for all advise :) would it be worth looking at running single webber 45 or 40? as i have carbs and manifold will cost me 200?

My mate has a 1200 Nova knocking out around 90bhp on twin 40s, but he fits a single SU on a swan neck for road rallying... maybe worth looking into

If you have any luck sorting a manifold out for a single DCOE report back :)

hmmmm... how much? :p

I would definitely be interested in a manifold if you go ahead with it. Bogg Bros is only about an hour from me by the way

i'm picking it up in a week so will have good look round and let you no, wont be mega money for what you get. as i only bought it for box, engine and comp th's. hockley coilovers are to expensive for me to brake lol

i'l be phoning my rolling road monday morning and then bog bros to get a price :)

cool mate, well keep me updated with progress and if you decide to go ahead with the single carb then get two manifolds and I will have the other. Let me know well in advance so I can sort money out mate :)

bump, anyone know if its worth the expense of putting a single 45 0r 40 on?

for road rallying I still think the best setup would be twin 1 1/2 SU's but no one wants to listen to me!

i have set twin su'd somewhere for a mini. not sure what model etc. i dont no much about them? whats the benefit of them over say a single 45?

spoke to bogg brothers today and a single 45 manifold will cost 220 plus vat. i also spoke to the guy who does my rolling road setup. small garage but very well known in rallying scene and hes already booked up till end of feb so he knows what hes on about :D he reckons with the spec of the new engine the best carb option would be split 45's or single 45.

split 45's are going to cost 4-500 before you even put them on a manifold. a single would be OK but you'd get fuel distribution issues. Also SU's give more low to high mid range power, they just take a bit of work and a decent rolling road to set the up. A lot of the autograss class 2 novas run a single SU, normally about 80 HP at the wheels, from a "std" 1300 engine.
