hi i have found and read the 1.2 8v tuning guide and 1.4 8v tuning guide would the 1.3 be any different?

could anyone tell me whats the best things todo to these and rough price on what they cost, also like to no how much power people have achieved.

would fitting a 1600 head and cam be a good idea?

thanks

Skip the cam buy some sport twin 40,s

1300 heads respond well to porting & a decent cam, then twin 40's.

in terms of cost, probably at least £200 for each, then it needs setting up properly.

what about a bigger single carb?

its already got a 4branch manifold on it

If you can find one use a Mk1 Astra inlet manifold, with either the Varijet carb or a twin choke Weber. The GM exhaust manifold can give better torque gains than a 4 branch if its opened up and matched to the ports properly.

Then think about a cam and headwork

what about a bigger single carb?

32/34 DMTL Weber is a good carb, had one on my SR origonally, although has forties at the moment, hopefully Irmscher Injection eventually

If you don't mind using a bit more fuel fit T40's for sure

.... I'm hoping for 130bhp out of my 1300 :d

130?

Thats a serious engine to make 130.

Crank, rods, pistons, alot of headwork, cams and your injection system?

Must be revving to 9000rpm?

I know the works 1300 engine in a members rally car, that makes 100bhp with all of the above, and thats on twin 45's:thumb:

Low comp vauxhall pistons
1mm enlarged inlet and exhaust valves
E16se cam
Irmscher injection manifold
Courtenay cast manifold
T2 turbo
Undecided on management ATM
Scorpion system

I reckon that 130 bhp will be reached with that, I hope lol

yet again i'm amazed.... the works 1300 nova 'sports' with group A restrictions, were making 120hp+ with 40's...... mostly from a new cam & some hi-comp pistons......

so with a decent head job, & exhaust too, then it should to better....

Weren't there a few Novas running that sort of power with twin chokes back in the day...?!

Matt - why must an engine need to rev to 9,000rpm to make 130bhp, its hardly mind blowing power considering the 1300 has been being tuned for nearly 30 years... and especially as he is turboing it :wtf:

novasport - what spec is that motor?

i know a lads grasser has stock balanced bottom end with arps, stock head, newman tarmac/sprint cam, twin 40s and manifold on a 14se making 112@wheels at 7.5k iirc.

could go bit bigger on the cam but then you need to machine the spring seats 2-3mm on the inlet side to get enough lift in the spring before coil bind.

ive seen 1.4 8vs revving to 8.5k on stock bottom ends in grassers that have been going for over 2yrs.

On the first page I posted a video of NDZ going round the ring, in related videos there is a second vid of the same car on the ring and in the coments the engine spec is listed.
