They didn't, this is a Merit+ made to look like an SRi, doubtful it's Breeze Blue as well. Still a nice looking Nova, and seems to be in good nick, look after it!!!:thumb:

Its got one ya plum, if its a TD that is, with a few screws turned it will run rings round any nova including an XE, and it will do ireland to PVS and back on probably far less than a tank too, id like to see even a 1300SR do that:p

I didn't think sx & sxi came in blue probably a merit or merit+, imo thats cosmos blue same as novavans

I reckon the TD would have it tbf, there used to be a nova specialist near me cunningly named 'Corsa & Nova' specialists, the guy who owned it (Gav Winter big name in autocross and grasstracker circles) helped Alan the other lad who worked there build a GTE rep TD, it had two or three gearboxes donate bits of their clusters, with a bit of boost tweakage and it would see off a mildly tuned impreza turbo to about 80mph, was flat out in fifth at that speed but it would do it:thumb::thumb:

In all fairness i reckon with fuel and boost mods done then you could get a TD to beat an XE, wouldnt be fair though as it would be a modded engine against a standard one, but i reckon its doable:d
From balley77vaux signature........ a quite tweaked diesel and over 2 seconds slower than an XE. In 1/4 mile times thats an eternity!!

Thing that appeals to me about dervs is the fact they will do eleventy thousand miles to the gallon:d

Ive seen XE's run slower than that though and even when you boot it theyre still mint on fuel!

erm my old cav,
tunned to 100bhp, 235k on the clock
towed my old saloon and a ton of dolly and still got 72.3 iirc mpg lol

shush round any nova lol so my comment still stands it needs a proper lump lol!! yea my sr barely gets to pod on a full tank now but then im happy with that as the 40's sound so so cool and no diesel can sound that good!!!

yes it might do low 15's but a fit xe will see low 14's all day, imo its a not in the same time bracket.

Why would anyone build a diesel for racing anyway?
Diesels should be kept for what they are best at - hassle free everyday driving!
I couldn't go back to a petrol daily again, but for a bit of fun a derv can never compete with petrol!
I'd a Skoda Fabia vRS with over 200bhp, and while it was fun, it could never have compared to a petrol hot hatch.
LOL @ the izuzu loving in this thread lol.
BTW my standard x16xe with piss all torque did a quicker 1/4 than the TD time posted earlier in the thread.
XE nova will do 14 sec 1/4miles all day.

i agree mate a diesel isnt beating a xe anytime!! id never have a diesel im not really botherd about fuel consumption thats why i fitted 40's to my sr lol!! but yea diesels arent fun there slugish and sound poo!! there a waste off time imo lol

Hang on a minute you can't beat the knock of a Cummings or a perkings.
A Volvo 740 with the Audi 6 cylinder with a straight thro pipe turn turbo up and fuel blow off valve omg get on you tube they are beasts lol.
Oh and on you tube again truck drag racing in caninda. Lol
turbos off 1.7d's can be made to fit on the 1.5, presuming its a 1.5?
