Hello all

my nova has developed a problem. since sunday it has struggled to idle and when driving along at lower speeds with little throttle the engine seems to splutter/missfire. however it stars and runs with the choke just fine and runs ok when accelerating. i have checked the distributor cap, rotor arm & spark plugs and all seems to be ok. did a compression test today and the results were:

no 1 - 230 psi
no 2 - 230 psi
no 3 - 240 psi
no 4 - 240 psi

to me those seem a little high but i cant seem to find any reference for what they should be.

any thoughts/ideas would be a help.

thanks,

Andrew

I know this is probably patronising but sounds to me like it is either the carb inlet gasket or the carb isnt right itself.

sounds like your needing to fit the standard bin lid filter back on with the the pipe that draws heat from the manifold

the air is that cold, being drawn into the carb, the fuel is freezing

A c20let

lol

Carb icing is rectified with a warm air feed to the carb. Get some carb cleaner down it to clean it and see how it goes from there.

run a hot air feed from your exhaust manifold via a tube to the binlid

I have one but it's for a 1.2 carb, dunno if it'll fit.
