Does sound like a long shot, £5-7k would be more like it... However, the pre facelift (96-98ish) could fall it to your price bracket, just be careful as blown turbos etc are very costly to fix, and it could turn in to a money pit.

My mate has one of these on a P plate, just been dyno'd at Awesone 468bhp and 495 foot/pound torque, it a fooking excellent car, owes him more than twice your budget though
