hi all i wasnt sure which thread to put this in but i snapped my only car key yesterday and iv just had a new one cut but my car still wont start but i have a new key with a chip, does anyone have any suggestions to get it started? thanks phil

Have you still got the old key with the chip in? place it next to the ignition barrel and try and start it with your new key.

ye iv still got it, does it need to be in a certain position or anything?

Yes literally right next to where the key enters the barrel, i glued my old one to the top of the recess in the cowling.(after i'd made sure it works)

why dont you just swap the chip out of the old key into the new one?

iv swapped the old chip into the new key, but the car still doesnt work so im pressuming something has broken on the car now, its had to go up to a garage to put it on the ecu reader machine and see what it says, thanks for the help everyone
