doing the cav gear shift mod in the xe is it worth doing? is the astra gte one the same as i have a spare one and was thinking off fitting it to the nova any help would be great guys pics and info also

I'm not sure what it looks like, but probably. Its just a case of modifying the shifter rod to meet the linkage

is the astra mk2 one the better one to use , ive read in the thread shown theres a bit of talk about it so it should fit

Mk1 and very early Mk2 ones are the best to use but hard to find

i have one out of a freg 16v so thats prob an early type
If its straight, or you can make it straight, it's fine. I used one with a few kinks in, welded it up straight and welded a Nova end to it to fit the linkage.
It aint worth doing unless you want a straight front exhaust section/larger bore.
Id just RJ the standard nova linkage.

but the standard ones all over the place does rose jointing it really make a big diffrence?

i need to do the cav shift as my exhaust hits the bottom of the gear shift so il need to do both then

Theres a lot in the cav/astra linkage to, the plastic ball with rubber washer can be very loose in old linkages.
