Right i went to the local scrappy and picked up a set of nova dials with a tachometer, the tacho red lines at just over 5k, i was wondering if anyone knew what nova this wud be out of. Also when I went to fit it I found no wire to connect to the tacho and was wondering where I wud have to run one from. The only wires that I could find had the ends chopped off and they were a green one and a purple one and appered to start at the coil. any help wud be very much appreciated.

and does it have four smalle rguages in the middle, or does it have just leds for the top dials?

oil pressure sender..............

if you look at your engine, where the bottom pulley is, and where the normal oil "switch" is, it has one wire to it, if you look back up the wire, the other end of the blue yellow wire is taped up against it

It has 4 proper dials and lights for the battery and oil

Sounds like clocks from a diesel, as most diesels only rev to about 5.5k before going into the red :|

Just a quickie whilst we are talking about dials....

I have got a Mk2 dash in my Mk1 merit, and have added some 6 clock dials from a GSi. Unfortunately the clocks are from a Mk1, which means that they don't sit right in the dash (since Mk2 clocks screw in from the sides and top). I have got them pretty much secured in but need to put in some Mk2 clocks so that everything is perfect. I have got the Mk2 clockset (just need to swap over the white faces - or put some of those ATD plasma ones in.....), but the plug on the back is completely different.

Can anyone help me by providing me with a diagram as to what wires need to be swapped for the MK2 clocks to work?

Cheers
Pickle

pickle i asked this exact question a while ago!
go to a scrappy / pm will or ben & see if you can get hold of a mk2 1.4sr
plug with some of the loom still attached to it, the colour wires should be the same so swap colour for colour in the plug
hope that's right & helps!

Right I have put a connecter on the end of the green wire and connected it to the rev counter, and it don't work, i have traced the green wire back to the coil, but theres also a purple wire running along side it, its connected to a red wire coming off the dizzy and has the end cut off inside the car :S. Also when i connected up the dash and swithced the enging on the petrol gauge seems to go well over full and yet i have barely any in it. It appears to be off a diesel as the glow plug light has a bulb in it and the rev counter redlines at just over 5k, wud the wiring off a 1.2 petrol be any different?

by the sounds of it the plug you've got on the car at the moment is wrong an the wires are in a wrong configuration for the dials, if possible the easiest way is to find the car the dials came from an copy the wire to plug patten so all wires go to the correct dials

you have a set of TD guages... the rev counter will be wrong... should redline at 6,300

I have a 1.2 merit and it does not come with a rev counter as standard, but i saw that SR dials did so i went to the scrappy to get one

Dave

so you've got sr dials not td ones
i'm gonna go lay down!
