this another with the problem
hello guys. I have an astra J(mk6) 1.6T 180 hp for about 4 months now . I have 8500 km on board , and i think my clutch is broken. when i press the throttle pedal until down , or after i get the throttle pedal more than half of the throttle course pedal , my turometer is jumping to 6000 without accelerating the speed of the car (clutch slip ) , but the thing is that there is no smell (heat clutch or anything) . i went to the service and they told me most likely it's my fault , because i use the clutch wrong , but this is annoying . I heard about a case in France with an Astra J who have 6000 km with the same problem , and it had the flywheel with fault of construction and they change it on waranty but the owner had to pay clutch disc ( the clutch disc was broken due to flywheel faulty design ) . Have anyone of u heard about something similar? I don't think this should happend with a brand new car. i just have 8500 km. In 2 days they will get down my gearbox to see what's the problem. Thanks in advance for answers.

Definately sounds like faulty duel mass flywheel wearing out the clutch, had mine go at 5000K in the vectra. Warranty will more than likley cover it ,Insignias suffer badly with this problem as well. I wish they would bring back solid flywheels:d
Warranty = getting it fixed!

In 2006 I had an 06 plate 2.0 Turbo (petrol) which went through a clutch in 18k - replaced under warranty

Dual mass flywheels are an epic fail. They die on all cars, even BMW etc.
As far as i'm aware they are only fitted to diesels to smooth out the engine feel.
Nah some petrols have them to Keith, Audi TT's for example. Transits are prone for them to on aswell as Mondeo's. Easy cheaper fix is getting a convential flywheel conversion done.

One of the biggest fails i have seen across so many car companys! no REAL need for it either imo.
One of my mates audi a3 has just started to do it too.

called vauxhall there come to pic the car up and there blame it on a sensor. but i asked a frend that work for vauxhall and he say it the presser plate and the fly wheel has gone. there a recall on them he say's
Then you have old ass Volvo estates with DMF and they're fine. Go figure. lol
ford ones are the worst ones for sure, do a load of galaxy ones.
At my work i changed a clutch on a X Type jag at 9k common as muck im afraid on some new vehices just down to **** design our fault is that the customer rides the clutch and causes it go prematurly wear so we have to fit a spring on the clutch pedal to make it more still so that you cant ride it

My transit has had one already and its just over a year old, iirc ford now convert some back to pot type as there such a ball ache.
Just imagine how much money its going to make them in a few years time though :) There not that stupid lol
turometer
I read that as "turdometer" lol
Had to change flywheel on an izuzu trooper as it was a due mass one and just spun round freely

lmfao how delluded are you!!!! TC will NOT stop the wheel spinning in the snow/ice, it will regin you in once the traction is lost but it wont predict the snow/ice and stop you spinning up.
DMF's are great... erm well they are when you just dump them rather than slipping them like most folks do

as soon as it detects the wheel slipping in the snow hit cut all power he was try to say i was sat in one spot. like doing a burn out

dmf has got to be the worse idea ever done more of them than normal clutches did one a few months back it riped the center out of the flywheel the customer dint like the bill but he had tryed to bump it down the road but for most vehicles you can get the conversion kit for always a better option imo
i think a burnout has taken place at some point:wtf:

i take it you have to alter your driving style when driving a DMF equipped car then?
mildly, but nothing major.... basically dont slip the clutch like a woman.
i had a new shape transit will a crap DMF, and i did an on the spot burnout, and blew it up, the van was on a Y reg, and had done 3klol , about 6 months later, i did a first to second gear van burnout of a junction in the rain and blew a hole in the gearbox, oil and gears were across the road. fords replaced it both timeslol (no need for merris is an idiot comments, i know i am:d )
am i right in thinking that dmf's were actually invented to make the clutch feel lighter than the traditional diesel clutch??
am i right in thinking that dmf's were actually invented to make the clutch feel lighter than the traditional diesel clutch??i think they where, i had the first of the new shape transit with it fitted, it was replaced three times, untill they sacked it of and fitted a soild one, still going now!!

still not a new astra tho
ALL open diff burnouts suck.
Y plate 'new' shape transit..... unless it was a connect then NO it wasnt ;)
Odd how when we were calibrating the current/new shape tranny we never killed a DMF once, and my god were we rough with them. Even the Defender with the puma engine in didnt eat its DMF and we were doing full bore standing starts with them lol

:p thats NEW shape transit
duel mass was on the y reg, the shape they changed to from the "smiley face" , i know this , not yhrew working for ford, they showed me the remains of what had blown uplol
that was also a dire engine, so the dmf was a mild bonus lol
