Got bored of the VAG scene so was looking around and different cars when i saw this. Loved it straight away. Friend of my is big into Nova's which helps, but i wouldn't have anything other than a Loon. Week later and a 10hour road trip it was back at my place.

The shell is mint, slight bubbling on the rear arches, but thats it. Definatly worth the trip. Not sure if the owner was on here before?

Numerplate is pretty cool as well.

Anyways, started sorting out some niggly bits with it. Thermostat was stuck open so swapped that out after breaking the housing. Now needs another new housing as the temp sender has snapped off after trying to fit a new one.

Gave the car a good clean, using some paint renovator. Came up an absolute treat!

The engine then, very tidy job, most impressed.

Previous owner reckons it was at 120bhp doing a 14.6 quarter mile. I'll aim for mid 15's in its current state, can't see it dropping in the 14's to be honest. Has an Ashley 2" system on it with a standard manny. Managed to snap the manifold clean in half the other day so straight away i ordered a 4-1 Ashley to complete the system, should be for the better. Current one was welded up to make it driveable.

Future plans, after the Lupo sells i'll have some cash to splash out. I'm big into my wheels, so will probably have some shineys for the shows but power is the main aim with this. Lightened flywheel will go on firstly, followed by throttle bodies. Cam's will then follow that, so hopefully by the end of the year i'm aiming for over 180bhp. Interior wise i want to keep it standard and retro to give it the sleeper look in a way.

So, there it is! Will keep updating as i go alone.

The old car was slightly different, 1.0 Lupo (50bhp yeahhhh).

Good to see you on here mate...

I can assure you the car did run 14.6 and at 700kg it must be around 120bhp to do that time.... I've been drag racing for yrs with many diff cars, and know what it takes to do what time....

Edited to add, it has the 8v flywheel on already, not much else to be gained unless you spend 200+ on an aftermarket one...

Also to get 180bhp N/A your gonna need some serious dosh for forged internals and head work... I was gonna turbo it using Corsa VXR parts, I still have them if your intrested, send me a text.

Count Vaux Alot
01-12-10, 09:37 PM
Turboing isnt 'cheap' either but will be more bhp per £

Exactly, I know where I'd spend my money!

Genuinly suprised at a 14.6 run, but quite happy it does that. Will have to put it to the test next year before i start tinkering with it.

Concentration on the little things first. Keeps cutting out now and then so got a new ICV to go on tomorrow. Need to double check gearbox oil as it whines loudly. Milko is it just a standard f15 box on it? Forgot to ask.

Next few weeks will be taking it to a mates workshop and underseal the whole car hopefully to keep it in the nick it is.

Was going on his word of how good it was, definatly worth the 10hour trip though!

Anyone got spare clocks? The ones you left with me Pete, the one without the rev gauge the speedo whines, and the others are for a later loom.

Yeah the box is a stock f15 but I swapped the diff for one out of an f13 as the f15 one had electronic pickup on not mechanical, its whined even since, oil level is fine, so not sure what it is but I kinda liked it! You cant really hear it outside ya know, it jus sounds loud inside...

Didnt realise about clocks, the non rev counter set are the original set tho...

thank fook you got rid of that little gay Lupo!! No offence personally but I hate the FAG scene with a passion lol anyway... glad to see you have moved onto better things, and a good Nova to start with :thumb: looking forward to seeing what happens with it

Thtas good to know. Will double check it anyway to be on the safe side. It does remind me of my old Mini, which i do like.

Got some good snaps from a little London run with did a few days ago. However, had some drunk ass decide to kick the rear quarter as i went past for no reason. Words were thrown, followed by punches and the bloke was an absolute unit, decided to put a massive dent in the drivers door. Managed to pop it out but its left a crease. Will go into the body shop in the new year to have it all sorted though, including the front wing.

Looking forward to seeing how you take the car further. It certainly is a great shell, I almost bought it myself before milko did.

Giving how low the car is, can't see the manifold fitting so need a 4-2-1.

AlexW
10-12-10, 09:40 PM
4-2-1 is the best thing to do on these engines anyway, keeps torque lower down.

BenL
11-12-10, 12:04 AM
I thought it was a 4-2-1 they were sending so will get on the phone tomorrow.

Out of intrest mate did your rear wheels fit on ok or did you need spacers ?

BenL
17-12-10, 05:33 PM
No rear spacers. Going to use 5mm to space it out a bit though.

Boss kit came today so got this on and finally wired up the horn.

milko96
25-01-11, 10:42 PM
Sorry to hear about the diff, guess it was on the way out after all!

Not keen on the seats bud, but each to their own.

Did you get the manifold sorted?

Connor
25-01-11, 10:51 PM
What seats are they?

kiwinova
25-01-11, 11:21 PM
what happened bout keeping the interior retro sleeper like:confused: :(

BenL
26-01-11, 06:46 PM
Seats are only really a temp just to make it a bit more comfy and fun to drive. Manifold has been welded again, had to weld an extra piece is as the exhaust was actually a bit short so that's sorted till a 4-2-1 comes in.

Will be going to a mate for all the little dents to be popped, wing sorted and a full mop then maybe go up for sale depending whether the Lupo sells this weekend.

Connor
26-01-11, 08:45 PM
If the seats are only tempory, let us know when there up for sale bud :thumb:

There was already a for sale thread for them. Always for sale at the right price ;)

BenL
11-02-11, 02:46 PM
Sourced a stainless 4-2-1, will be cutting and welding tomorrow then. Full system will be fully heat wrapped so should pop a bit.

Also, had a little burn with a EG Civic down the m1 late at night, sat on his bumper quite easy. Turns out it was a B18 pushing 190bhp through a fully stripped EG shell. Go Nova!

BenL
23-02-11, 04:49 PM
Looking at something a bit different. As much fun as the car is, and it is great fun, i commute quite a distance to work and would rather something a big comfier. Looking into a 200sx S15 at the moment so should still have the fun, just a completely different type of power!
