How big is your garage?
I would advise just keeping your thermoflask topped up
and to put a few more layers on :thumb:

Electric fan/element heaters cost a fortune to run.

Much better off with a gas one IMO. I have a gas fire to go in the garage, but no need yet. Just get the layers on! lol

I bought one of these the other day.

So far it's been brilliant. Warms up my living room which is 20ft x 12ft in no time. Had it on while I was working on the Cav in the cold (about -1) and it was snowing. Kept me nice and comfortable.

Chucks out good heat considering the size and price.

Well worth the money.

cost 0 pounds 0 pence to build when using forced air it sees temps of about 700 degrees and runs soley on waste engine oil! completly free in other words.
will run on anything you want though oil wise veg cooking oil diesel anything heavy with a high flash point
will boil tin kettle in about 40 seconds when on full wack!
and the best bit when its running hot it burns clean as a whistle

only down fall i have is my workshop is the size of it! its about 60 feet long by 25 feet wide with a very high non insulated asbestos roof. As a result it struggles on its own to keep the place in heat but does take the chill of but i have a plan!

im going to weld a large box section to the back of it about roughly 1 foot out 2 foot wide and 3 foot tall weld some unions in it have an outlet from the top add 4 big iron radiators a central heating pump and an over flow level tank and whola
one fully self contained central heating system! run for virtualy nothing all year using only waste oil as fuel for the boiler

its how alot of yanks and canadians heat there homes all year!

but in a workshop the size of yours that on its own in the corner using a drip method which will use about half a liter of oil an hour would have you working in there in shorts and t shirt in about half hour !

If you're paranoid about a gas fire, a waste oil burner will give the same worries. In either case you can always stick a carbon monoxide detector up, and just make sure the garage is ventilated.

I bought a tidy, fairly new super ser type gas heater on ebay for about £40 locally. Workshop is quite high, cement roof etc so it has to be flat out, but it takes the chill off nicely.

but if you can, go for the waste oil burner as above, you'll be toast.

there's one being built here: http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=23193
