after having a chat with my mate earlier about a hyabusa engined 205 his mate has (engine in the rear) he was talking about he'd love it if it was possible to put a bike engine under the bonnet, so its hidden from view, but it cant be done because there isnt the space.
I think hes wrong im sure ive seen at least one front mounted bike engine car. is there any?? anyone know???

he realise how large a bike is yes, in that you can fit it between your legs, and the average person can not fit a nova between their legs?

If you would like to point that out and call him a mong feel welcome.

He meant front wheel drive, and i know it would be tight having to fit the engine far enough forward to get a sprocket in behind it but im sure someone has made a gearbox kit for fwd applications

i have an r1, and my dads old mini shell cheap if i want it, know what i'll be doing if i bin it(and live). seriously though bike engined minis are fkin cool! z-cars do the conversion kits and IIRC also tailor make them if required, they use a starter motor onto a flywheel running backwards for reverse as well. bloody expensive though

as fantastic a piece of engineering the front mounted bike engine is... in something like a mini, i can't help but think that traction will be a huge issue. the old a series & box is a sodding heavy lump of iron, and contributed to the mini's legendary handling ability.. the driver usually has to sit almost where the back seat was just to get a decent low seating position, & by removing the original lump & fitting a tiny bike engine, surely it would give the car a rear weight bias under acceleration, affecting the grip.. thus a rear engined version will be quicker.

Another R1 mini FWD build >LINK (http://www.r1manx.com/www.r1manx.com/Home.html)< Good info on there by the looks of it and decent pictures as well.

PROMOTIVE!!! thats the oe i saw before, couldnt remember the name though lol,
rear engined bound to be quicker off the mark that fwd, oon as a car is lunched all the weight goes backward over the rear wheels, but id have thought that a fwd bike engine would be quicker ad handle better than the old a series, lesws weight to get moving etc.
