To heat up a double sized garage, its not my electric bill so cheap as possible. Dont really want gas as i would have to leave the door open to vent the fumes.

I've got a 500w light I use in my garage, that gives off a surprising amount of heat. It certainly seems to keep my garage warmer when I'm in there, and of course helps me see what I'm doing too. Cheapy cheap from screwfix: http://www.screwfix.com/prods/32394/Lighting-Lamps/Torches-Task-Lighting/Site-Lights/Portable-500W-Site-Light

its not my bill, i dont want to run it up lol

Actually looking at a gas heater now, screw fix £84 only small. Just thinking they heat up quite quick i can just turn it off after.

somewhere in decs thread I think it is, he shows some sort of tube heater, runs on about 25w and is obviously warm enough to keep moisture at bay.

Are you wanting something you can leave on when you're not there?

Or something to keep you warm when you're working?

I use a diesel space heater. Run it on Red Diesel (tax free from your friendly local farmer or garage that sells it), and it's pretty cheap heat. I only use it when I'm actually there though, it's not really suited to leaving running in your absence.

use a gas heater or panel heater in my garage, usually gas though. melts through trackies from a couple foot away which is plenty heat.
my dad even used it once driving home in the van when the heater motor and fan broke!! probably not the safest thing to do!
