At the moment i have 3 cars for sale, one of which has aquired some interest from a chap named Maurice. Hes emailed me saying that he will buy the car and pay me extra for shipping, however, i have to pay for the shipping from the money he has funded.

Whats this all about? Ive not shipped anything before, let alone a car. Im not convinced its going to be that simple. Personally, i reckon its got to be some sort of scam. But its only advertised in a local paper (trade it)

I'd also be very skeptical, where does he want it shipped to? Are the funds for the car and shipping cleared in your account?

I havnt asked, to be honest ive been a bit blunt with him, as i thought it was a scam at first, now im not so sure.

Ive not recieved any type of payment as of yet, its still early days. But he will give me a bankers draft or cheque. But just depends how much.

i sold a car to him a year or two back and he is fine to deal with.he sent the money to my bank and a few days later a lorry turned up to collect the car.he will ask for some good luck change in the ashtray as its a thing they do over there.
You will have no problems with him.
Chris.

So is it someone from across the water? How much good luck change do you have to leave?

As in areofall (IIRC) off here? As Ernie says, he sold him a car. The irish lads buy quite alot form here and ship it back. A few years back I "sold" a Cav GSi to some irish bloke once, paniced at the last minute and pulled out. :( ah well, live and learn!!

On the face of the info I would immediately say that it's Advance Fee Fraud.

Bit more complicated as others have apparently dealt with this guy. Just make sure you're positive it's the same guy. If you're not 100% sure don't do the deal, someone else will always come along.

Yeah...i meant to add to my post. I have, previously, had people emailing me saying they will pay xyz to me to cover shipping. 99.9% of the time it is a scam.

As said above, if you are not happy, as i wasnt when i "sold" my Cav, walk away.

I had no trouble as he sent the payment and arrayed for the car to be picked up as well.

If it is Maurice (areofall) he is 100%, but to me this does not sound like the normal way to do things. Transport is usually arranged by the buyer (Maurice uses the same guy all the time as well), so to me it sounds a bit suspect that they are asking you to arrange "shipping".I think it's just coincidence that the buyer is called Maurice and people have put 2 and 2 together and come up with the wrong answer here! Have you any contact details for him, and I will tell you if it is areofall or not.

if its a one off, open another bank account, he pays it in, you take it out then arrange shipping...simples:thumb:

Scam.
I had some bloke in Africa try to buy my BM a few years ago, I told him I'd sell it even though I had no intention of selling just to see what turned up. The cheque that arrived looked fraudulent as fu ck.

I've read somewhere else that peoples cheques have cleared, only for them to find a week later that their account is 3 or 4 grand down and they have legally signed over ownership of a car which is on it's way to Nigeria.

Cash on collection or owt else IMO!

We sold 9 rally cars to a welsh bloke, he came over, payed half cash & half on debit card, loaded up onto his own car transporter an took them all back to Ireland. Happy ending.
