i know of one being build.
using a mini super charger.
ill find a project link.
that green one? is it not a xe with a blower, iirc there are pics of it on here somewhere.
green one?
there is one, going in some RWD classic vauxhall. viva i think
RR is playing up atm.
i bought my manta gearbox from the guy, and he loves chargers lol
im sure there is a green nova with a supercharger.
( maybe its all just a dream:wtf: )
yep there's a green one in a nova with a mahoosive charger attatched. Iirc it don't go that well at the pod.
think it blowded up iirc lol

Yeah that's the one, is it dead now then?
to me, using that blower below it looks like it needs LOTS of room.

i read in a post it done a run and puffed out, not a fast run either, but i may be wrong. ( usually am anyway lol)
was it Burgo who charged an XE or Baxter?
with the green one, if you ever saw it parked up, wouldnt you be tempted to just undo the top samco hose and LOL
just found some more pics

BMW156 seems to have proved it...a normal XE is tight in a Nova bay. A charged one surley wouldnt fit??!!

aha me and mike planned where to fit one, :p
theres only so much space.
in a nova. you could go up like the green nova, cut out the bulk head and put one there.
or go mid engined and have one hanging out the back...
or go all swindon head on me and put one out the front!

Well by the looks of the manifolds they look home made anyway but the idea of going up into the bulk head and removing or relocating the heater maybe 1 to look into? Has any1 seen kits out the 4 redtops or is it a mix and match and blue tac it altoghter?
I've never seen a kit for the 20XE.
Get a 3.0, put it in the middle of the heads, cut hole in bonnet. Problem solved lol

If only money was no object jack lol surly u would loss so much power through all the pipe work! And the noise would b hoffrific?
I was at a RSOC meeting a few months back and there was a fiesta with a turbo and supercharger on it running on the track, the blower was mounted above the gearbox with a shaft driving it that ran across the rocker cover and was belt driven from the crank pulley,
it's hard to describe and I should have taken pictures lol
If you used a Rotrex charger on a XE and fitted it on the from of the block like a small alternator there would be room
Rotrex chargers ain't cheap tho

Yes a tidy price indeed.
Look here and you'll see Rotrex fit to some small vehicles and even a jet ski lol >LINK (http://www.powerenterpriseusa.net/Powernews/Rotrex-news.html)<

what, the convo about putting it where the alternator usually lives, and running a motorbike alt off the dizzy drive????
twinchoke, bin the text typing.
How about a Z22SE with a charger.. thats an OEM style fit so is nice and compact :)

Thats where the X30 comes in handy, as you can pretty much just slap the charger on top of the inlet manifold. An adapter for that would be comparitively easy to fix up, plus its sat on top the engine so no worries about the drive belt hitting the rear firewall. Noise would be ace :)
Heat from it would probably destroy the oil cooler though!
What about a centrifugal charger? Not a lot smaller, but it would look so stupid, and would be a lot easier to actually fit. No messing around fabrication manifolds etc

oh, and the fact that you wouldn't be able to see in front of you.....
I saw an LS9 with a charger on that at a motorsport palce in Silverstone last week... that might fit in the bay (would need a rear mounted gearbox though lol)

I reckon if you could find one that was small enough to fit between the two heads it would only stick up from the main body of the engine a couple inches over the bonnet height. There's actually a fair bit of room atop the engine, its just the front where it catches the bonnet (in the 3.0 case, where the inlet hangs over the front bank).
Orrrr just rotate the engine and make it RWD, a longitudinal charger should be ok to see around :d
i like your last comment.......
with an auto box @ a locking diff by any chance??

there is a light blue Mk1 Escort running a charged XE, maybe worth finding some spec...it runs 10s all day long :d

Isnt a centrafugal charger basically a turbo anyway?

What a gay colour lol
Anyway, sod the Escort, I see a GTX and 'Cuda or possibly Camaro in the queue on the first couple runs.

yes but smaller than a vaned type and dosent generate as much heat... only issue is they dont give masses of low down power like a hEaton would

so it produces power the same as a turbo so by whats been written on here is safe to say its defenitly more simple to go turbo????????????????
so it produces power the same as a turbo so by whats been written on here is safe to say its defenitly more simple to go turbo????????????????no far from it. with a turbo you have inlet, exhaust and then the heat issue to deal with. supercharger you have just the belt drive and inlet to do, aka easy

Wow!!!
that mark1 is insane
Ideally you still want some form of intake cooling
what about cr? would you have to go LET pistons or could you get away with a thicker (2mm??) head gasket?
what about cr? would you have to go LET pistons or could you get away with a thicker (2mm??) head gasket?depends on the pressure you want to run
twinchoke
28-11-10, 07:48 PM
Well im sure lowering the compression with a thicker gasket would earn you a few psi but I would go wossner and cometic if I was to follow through wit this anyway
if you use a displacement type rather than a centrifugal type (eg use a hEaton off a mini) then you dont 'really' need to worry about the CR being dropped as the volumetric efficiency of the engine at the speeds the hEaton works best at will be so low that the Charger simply fills in the gap.... Ie you can run stock compression and maybe only need to back out a couple of degrees of ignition higher up the rev range.
Wasn't there a nova saloon on here in the projects that had a longitudally (sp?) mounted xe with a supercharger on?
