After just corner weighting mine I was wondering what other novas, in various specs are tipping the scales at..?

If anyone has individual / front to back weights too that would be interesting :)

spill the beans... whats yours like then?

all figures would be nice to see what the left/right/front/rear distro is like
There is a thread in projects by chris someone or other titled broadbasher that has some corner weights of a nova on gyppo gmax suspension lol

currently mine will be in the region of 250kg lol but seriously when its built im hoping it will be a similar weight to Burgos, and will try get it distributed as evenly as possible

ATM I'm looking at 817 Redtop with 60/40 distribution ~ 14 point cage, dash, trim, cast iron brakes, full glass, electric windows, remote CL, fully wet & 3/5 tank of petrol.

That's still bloody light.

Not unusually light for a nova tbh, most stripped with a cage I would be expecting to be 650-700. Believe Oli D's was around 600, colins is not a bit lighter than that I would imagine! I'd like to get down around 625 with mine by the time it's stage 1 'finished' lol

It's only a baby engine in Burgos though, iirc a GTE/GSI in full road trim is under 900kg,

a boggo spec 1.0 hatch is 735kg IIRC so sub 700kg is achievable without breaking the bank on composite parts

i weighed a rotten GTE shell in, no engine just shocks wheels and rear beam...500kg ;)

i was in the landy for first weighing, and snuck out for the re-weigh...so knock off 110kg ;)

im glad this question has popped up because a few months back there was a mark 1 nova sr in total vauxhall, restored back to factory iirc...the mag said it weighed 775kg so there was me assuming novas were quite light, ive a mark2 sr and theres a plate under the bonnet...says something about weight...1250kg.....explain that???

My 1.2 was 770kg with the back stripped out. Will weigh the track car when I get it on the road.

Thats the maximum weight when loaded or for towing or something of that ilk.

Iirc the towing capacity of a nova is 800kg ( can't remember if that's for braked or unbraked )

Mine is 887kg iirc.
That was with an average sized driver in too.

My small block turbo sprint/hillclimb car is now at 585kg, but there should be another 15kg to come off it with the things I have planned.

And I haven't finished then either..........

Hmm that makes yours about 810 then, sounds high for a stripped car, obviously cage and big block engine adds a bit but it does make you start to doubt the 735kg figure for a standard 1.2, but then burgos estate seems to line up with that pretty well considering its got a hatchback welded on the back and no back seats etc.

That was with about half a tank of fuel too.
Remember ive got heavy steel framed buckets, and 288 brakes too. :thumb:

Full glass etc and alloys/larger tyres makes up the difference then I guess.... Where's cheapest for a holesaw? lol

My XE was 750kg, 500 on front, 250 on rear (no driver, 1/4 of fuel)

left:right distribution was pretty much 50:50, but when I sat it it that would have upset that!!

I dont think the op weight is that bad, you have to remember you have removed some cloth and foam seats and a bit of sound proofing and added about a mile of tubing. Sounds like you still have all the creature comforts which is where the real savings are!
