The 1st and 4th port spark but the 2nd and 3rd don't.

What could be the reason's for this?

Car is a Nova with a XE from the Astra GTE (20XE)

my moneys with rotor arm or dizzy cap, more than likely the dizzy where the points will have burned out inside seeing as only getting spark to 2 plugs

are you sure its lack of spark?

if your getting spark on 1 and 4 theres nothing stopping 2 and 3 from going

erm how are you say this

1234 or 1324 ?

IIRC firing order on an XE is 1,3,4,2.

Sorry i meant 1 from being far left and 4 being far right. Ive used an independant spark plug to test the spark also.

fault code?

Tony M

Fault code - low voltage, hall sensor. - ECU light wasn't on but would always show the code if flashed?

I've ran a wire straight from the hall sensor plug to the ECU and still nothing.

when you tried the dizzy did it read the hall sensor code still?

lol It's OK mate :thumb:

Gunny was stunned by this, he put it down to a wiring problem but i've ran a length of cable and still nothing :(

I originally had a knackered dizzy on it with the ECU light on showing that code with a lumpy idle also. I changed it for a known working one, the ECU light went out but also shown that code when flashed and the lumpy idle went.

i may be miles off the mark here but have you checked all the earths on the loom like next to fuel rail as that could trigger low voltages etc

I've been thinking .... lol

If the cambelt jumped a couple of teeth, would it cause this problem?

Pistol Pete

Well, yeah. Timing would be out!

To cause a spark on the far left and the far right port only?

I still don't know why its not sparking on the middle 2 ports only :(
