thermostat change spi

The thermostat has gone in my 1.2i spi Nova. I have read the Haynes stuff on it and it looks like quite a job, does the cam belt and tensioner etc have to all come off just to change the Thermostat. This is what Haynes says but, it is not always 100% perfect as a guide.

If this is the only way to do it, is it a hard job for someone like me who is not a mechanic? I have worked on OHVs but never touched OHCs before.

SPi's you need to remove the cambelt and all the cambelt back plate iirc, No other way to do it. Carbs have a cut out in the cover!

Its not hard to do a cambelt on a old vauxhall 8v, I had never done a cambelt before and i managed to do it with very little help. Haynes manual is your best friend.
