I did the same mate sold my xe cus i wanted a "tubzzzzzzz" worst decision of my life lasted 1 week and the cranked dropped out of it, most have been badly tuned and turned upto 30psi on some chavs drive, unreliable underpowered worst turbo lag ive felt in my life (standard 1600 turbo) just because the dump valve gave me a boner! All depends what you want rs turbos are about getting a mint one these days and getting every nut and bolt from fords, . . . not about going fast. Would still have a S1 anyday of the week though!!

Typical Vauxhall blinkered replies i see lol
Very nice and capable cars when looked after and set up right.
How much you got to spend? they aint cheap!!
Any car breaks down alot when maintenance is lacked by some folk who just thrash them to death
And LMAO at them not being fast, true in standard form theyre not going to set the world alight but they are good when boost is upped

You thinking S1 or S2?? I would love both TBH, but if i had to choose it would be a S1 everyday. Holding their price at around £3-4k for a good solid one IIRC.

time i sell the nova etc il have bout 2500 this is if i decide to get rid of the nova lol , been looking around and for that kinda price looks like you can get a decent one for that price , would be a series 2

my mates right into them, they may not be the most reliable but they look cool as ****, the recaros are very comfy and they arent that unreliable if you look after them. think he told me efi engine out fiesta rst is better than the mfi out the erst. boost upped on a standard engine dsoes have a fair bit of lag though.

Was gonna say?! A good friend if mine's had 2, his S2 was a pukka 190bhp on Toovey's rollers an handled/pulled like a bleeding train! His S1 (reshelled into a RS1600i on a Q) was the same, made about 240+/- bhp but was awesome gun.

A mint restored example will fetch like £5k quite easily though, they aint nowhere near as cheap to mess with as Nova's though. Cosworth front brake conversions are about £150 for second hand parts, unlike £40 256 ATE's what Nova's use.

lol lol lol lol

"I have no real reason to sell, only id like to see it go to someone with the space and time for it. Again, if you turn up in your VTS with a great spliff hanging out your mouth, you can dream on, whether you have the cash or not. "

Nice toys, my brothers has had 5 of them lol, 1.6 standard engine was 136bhp iirc, the brothers fastest one was a mfi E reg with hybrid T3 forged mahle pistons lightened and balanced bottom end ahmed bahoo ecu ( he's the bolloks btw) and the manditory 3" magnex with a 4" tail lol
foookin rapid, bad points yes they rust, cracked bulkheads, crossmembers rear suspension thing ( the bit the rear arms bolt into I can't remember it's name ) can crack , seen this in a few cars that have been tuned stiffened and lowered,
you can also do the ZVH route with either 1.8 or 2.0 block, fariday engineering will sort you out with a decompression plate that also blocked the unused oil gallery etc, a lad from beith had a ZVH cabrio, 340 bhp I ran, no bull as his dad builds fast ford for aliving.

IMO do it.

Lol a reply to the comments about my ad:

The story is, i restored another old Ford and stupidly decided to sell it, i then seen it a month of so later for sale again, and it was ruined, some chav wheels, D.I.Y painted bits, wrong engine, fag holes in what was an absolutely immaculate 90 spec interior, it just broke my heart really. And now im in a better financial situation, id rather see it go to a genuine enthusiast.

AInt bad but spare parts and replacements bits are bloody expensive and the engines aint cheap at all. Basicially u end up paying the same for a reasonable spec let for a 1.6!

I gave em up and ended up back with novas!

My Nova XE killed one in a 'traffic light grand prix' lol

I thought it was a replica but then I heard the dump valve

Each to there own but there have been some very blinkered replys here...

The problem you will have is actually finding a decent one. What budget do you have? Don't expect to buy anything half decent for less than 3-4k.

Remember these will have passed through many hands by now if your budget is lower. Plently of bodges pulled as peeps who couldnt afford to maintain them properly and had one 'cause it was a must have' of the their road up the performance hatch ladder.

Biggest issues really is rot. Mechanically there are plenty of options/routes to take and the tuning scence behind these is still large.

PMSL at the comments FRST's are gay.

Back in the day my black one with 175 BHP at the wheels, LSD and pukka set up suspension/geometry certainly would show many 'non' gay vehilces up. Once rolling you needed to be in a stage 3 Cossie to be more than a match...

Mint FRST - They handle 1000 times better than an Escort. Mines on Gaz coilies and polybushed all round, its a nice ride really, but just sticks everywhere, where as i find Escorts are a little tail happy, they just spin unpreditably and are just terrible to catch.

I raced the FRST i own now in my last car which was a 300zx twin turbo manual. With a chip, turbo back exhaust and 11 PSI it had 336bhp, and 350lbft, but i always ran 15 psi, although not pratical, with a planted foot it would be ever so violent on boost and just spin even from low revs in 3rd. HOWEVER, ill get back to the story! I did manage to get past my FRST but only just, i was just stunned to say the least.
